My pick of the week is K.D. Casey’s ENGAGEMENT RING—it’s my most highly anticipated book of 2023 so far. Sadly, the other book I was going to grab today—Amelia Wilde’s HERO WORSHIP—has been postponed until May (Wilde is working on no less than four different series/books right now, so I wouldn’t be surprised if HERO WORSHIP gets pushed back again). I didn’t know Shannon McKenna has a new book out (MASTER OF LIES). She writes hot-and-crazy-sauce stuff—I have to be in the mood to read her, but when she hits the sweet spot, she can knock it out of the park. I didn’t know about Sandra Kitt’s new book (TIME IF YOUR LIFE) either. Looks like I’m going to do a lot of reading over Spring Break!
Just want to pick up the baton from DDD and say I one-clicked DIAMOND RING as well. I don’t mean to be snarky because I bet a few folks will say they don’t like present tense but man I love it. KD Casey can present tense me all day long.
I’m halfway through DIAMOND RING right now—and loving it! Casey is my big discovery this year. I loved her first three books: UNWRITTEN RULES, FIRE SEASON, and ONE TRUE OUTCOME (I don’t count the books Casey co-wrote with Lauren Blakely—DIRTY SLIDE and DIRTY STEAL—which are just ok, imho), and looks like DIAMOND RING is going to be another favorite of the year. Highly recommended!
Okay, okay, y’all talked my into trying this author, I can’t resist.
Finished it yesterday—and I loved, loved, loved it! My favorite book of 2023 so far. However, I will say I think being a baseball fan (or at least having a working knowledge of how the game is played) helps; and I’d recommend reading UNWRITTEN RULES and FIRE SEASON first because characters and themes (including mental health issues) do recur.
If anyone’s still tuning in to these comments, I really enjoyed the sample of Loren Leigh’s LET’S DO THIS. Off to one-click…
