Kissing My Crush is the third book in the multi-author Kissing Game series and features Amara, cousin to Liam and Linc, and Tyler, friend to the brothers and co-worker of Liam. I’ve enjoyed this series so far, with different tropes and couples.
Amara has always had a thing for Tyler, but his love ’em and leave ’em relationship history and the fact that they are all part of the same friends group leads her to hide for feelings. Then she has a little too much to drink one evening, marches right up to him, and gives him a kiss. Now Tyler is intrigued and Amara is mortified, especially since they have to attend their friend’s wedding and will be stuck together all weekend.
This was a gentle friends to lovers, pining romance. Once the kiss happens Tyler is pretty much all in, and determined to convince Amara that he’s serious, that she’s not just another one of his flings. They have a tentative relationship at first, with him trying to break her out of her shell and her understandably worried that their relationship would somehow go wrong and affect their group dynamics. But he convinces her, and despite numerous roadblocks- flirting from other women, his reputation, and even Amara’s brother’s animosity towards Tyler, they do try to make it work. Then there is a BIG THING that happens. I mean of course there is, but the misunderstanding doesn’t last too long and it gives Tyler a chance to make a heartfelt declaration.
This was a sweet romance, not super sexy, but with just enough open-door love scenes to satisfy romance lovers. Out of the three books I’ve read in this series so far I think this is the easiest, fastest read. I think the angsty scenes weren’t too angsty and they were resolved so quickly I didn’t have time to worry, and despite all the side drama I never really felt like this couple was in jeopardy of not finding their way to each other.
There are only two couples left and I’m looking forward to their HEAs.
