Review by Angela

Spider and Frost is a crossover novella featuring Gin Blanco of the Elemental Assassins series and Gwen Frost from Mythos Academy. This fast-paced adventure is full of familiar faces, magic, and mythology.

Gin Blanco, aka the Spider, is on vacation with Owen, Finn, and Bria when she’s cut off from her friends and forced to take a planned train ride alone. Gwen Frost is in town to recover artifacts stolen by Reapers. Now she’s stuck on the same train as Gin, also separated from her allies, and tasked with protecting those artifacts and getting them back safely to the Crius Coliseum. It’s a good thing they meet and form a friendship of sorts on the train ride because the Reapers are on their trail and determined to get their stolen goods back.

Told in dual POVs, readers will be happy to finally see both Gwen and Gin on the page, working together to defeat the bad guys. The secondary characters mainly stay off-page, although they do show up at the end after the battle is won. It was fun to see Gin so confused by all the mythology talk and Gwen thinking Gin was in danger because she wasn’t familiar with her reputation. Their magics worked well together and the fight scene at the end was exciting and left me hoping that I would see them working together again in the future.

Also, I love Vic, the talking sword.

Grade- B
