This has been a fun series. Centering around three best friends, a wedding gone bad, and a small-town protective of their residents. This is Emma’s story, and readers will finally get answers to the identity of the mysterious billionaire who she met and had a fling with on her solitary honeymoon.
If you’ve read the previous two books in the series, then you know Emma comes home after her disastrous almost wedding and trip to Figi upset. All of her friends assume at first that she’s still angry over them keeping secrets and discovering her fiancée is a no-good, terrible person. And maybe embarrassed over the viral video of the events. Turns out she’s all those things, but she’s keeping a secret of her own–she’s pregnant and keeping the identity of the father to herself.
Yes, friends…this book features a secret baby plotline. I’m not sure if I’m allowed to mention the identity of the father in this review, as the arc email specifically mentions that the author wanted to keep it under wraps for as long as possible. But suffice it to say, if you are familiar with Pippa Grant, you just might remember this character from another one of her books. Hint: the word billionaire in both titles.
While I usually find this author’s brand of romantic comedy to be over the top and zany, I do enjoy it quite a bit. This book does have the same feel as the previous titles in the series, but it was toned down in the comedy department. That’s not to say that there weren’t some silly moments and situations, just that I think the heartwarming and sweet ones outnumbered them.
The male main protagonist has to do a lot of work to convince Emma to allow him back into her life. I mean he basically disappears after their steamy night together and then pops back up two and a half years later. There is also the complication of his career and her feelings about being front and center in the public eye again. I did enjoy their romance, and while I questioned the ease and speed of *name redacted*’s choices regarding his job, in the end I just went with it.
They do share a cute two-year-old son that stole the spotlight quite a few times and are surrounded by all the characters that readers have grown to love over the course of three books. This is a quirky, wonderful cast of characters and I’m a little sad to say goodbye to them. But who know…maybe we will see them again.
