I can’t keep up with all the new releases from this author. I think I’ve read three or four in the last year. I wasn’t sure what to expect going into this book, I just knew I was in for a treat. I must warn you though, there are so many bugs in this book, so if bugs are a hard no for you then this book might not your cup of tea.
This book starts out slowly, as the main protagonist, Sonia Wilson, arrives at a house in North Carolina owned by Dr. Halder to take up a position as an illustrator for his scientific works. He’s rude and standoffish, but the staff who work for him are kind and welcoming. But the house is strange, and the local lore about demons in the woods is scary, and then after following Dr. Halder during his weird nighttime wanderings Sonia quickly realizes she is stuck in a sinister situation and there may be no way out.
While Wolf Worm might start out slowly, it builds momentum as Sonia starts to investigate and follow Dr. Halder. The ending is the biggest WTF I’ve read in quite a while. Like the last 20% or so was absolutely bonkers, but I kept reading because despite the gruesomeness I could not stop turning pages until I got to the end. When I said at the beginning of this review that if bugs are a hard no for you that you might want to skip this one– I meant that.
If you love this author’s horror novels as much as I do, you definitely want to add Wolf Worm to your TBR.

I think this is the first LJ Andrews book that took me more than a few days to read. Yes, I enjoyed reading, but there were times I put it down in favor of other books that hit my Kindle.
This is the second book in a duology and continues on with the story of Lyra, the melder, and her lover, Roark Ashwood. When the book opens Lyra and Roark have escaped Stonegate and are taken captive by Roark’s mother, who happens to be the queen of Dravenmoor, an enemy of Jorvandal and the people who have been using Lyra to hunt for the bones of the Wanderer King. Things are bit dicey as Roarke has been away for so long, and they aren’t sure of his current motives, and Lyra is considered an enemy being a melder. And that is only the beginning of their troubles, but they do find allies and friends willing to help them.
I did enjoy this book, once I pushed through the first 30% or so. Being in a new kingdom, there are a lot of new characters introduced, and it was daunting to remember them all. While I do think this story worked well as a duology, there were times it felt bogged down by all the plot threads and backstories. I did enjoy the ending and HEA, and I really liked how this author wrapped up all the secondary character’s story arcs.
While this might not be my favorite by this author, I am still a huge fan and on the edge of my seat for her next release. The Stolen Crown is the fourth book in her Ever Seas series and has a release date of October 6, 2026 and I CAN. NOT. WAIT.
