Kini’s Friday Kisses 5/29- Mini review for books by Meryl Wilsner and Annika Martin and a couple of DNFs’
I have had a miserable reading week and I DNF’ed 3 books. Something to Talk About by Meryl Wilsner- I read this back in January when Berkley so kindly sent me a paperback galley. I really enjoyed it. It is super SLOW burn. But it felt very authentic to the characters. I really enjoyed watching Emma and Jo’s friendship blossom into romantic love. There are little hints throughout the story that even as “friends” they are more than just friends. They each do little things for each other that Continue Reading

Review: Hostage by Annika Martin and Skye Warren
Hostage by Annika Martin and Skye Warren (Criminals & Captive #2) Released: January 27, 2018 Dark Romantic Suspense Self Published Reviewed by Mandi Back in 2014, I read Prisoner by Annika Martin and Skye Warren (currently free) and it stretched my boundaries. It made me feel a little uncertain, as there is one scene where the hero drugs the heroine and then they have sex. I liked the characters, and the dark world they created - I think I gave it a B. The romance wasn't as romancy Continue Reading
Smex Scene Sunday
Hero: Stone. Horrific past and a broken future. While exacting revenge on his enemies, he "meets" (okay, maybe he kidnaps) Brooke. From that moment on they share something that neither can let go. But she also sees inside his soul and that he is living a life of violence because of the torture and abuse he suffered in the hands of the men he Continue Reading
Review: Most Eligible Bastard by Annika Martin
Most Eligible Bastard by Annika Martin Contemporary Romance Released: November 7, 2017 Self Published Reviewed by Mandi I've enjoyed Annika Martin's (aka Carolyn Crane) voice for some time - her books usually involve zany bad guys and are erotic. This one doesn't have a bad guy - just a hero who starts off a little....bastardy. But he is actually a great guy - it just takes some time for that side to be noticed. Henry Locke is the CEO of a very large construction/poperty company. He Continue Reading
Review: Enemies Like You by Annika Martin and Joanna Chambers
Enemies Like You M/M Romantic Suspense Released: May 15, 2017 Self Published Reviewed by Mandi I've really enjoyed Annika Martin's (also writes as Carolyn Crane) romantic suspense books. She writes action-filled, black ops type books with super sexy heroes and good banter. This book had a very similar feel, if you are familiar with her work. I was not familiar with Joanna Chambers, so I was happy to try out this book and get a taste of them together. I ended up liking both heroes quite Continue Reading
Review: Dark Mafia Prince by Annika Martin
Dark Mafia Prince by Annika Martin (A Dangerous Royals Romance #1) Released: June 28, 2016 Romantic Suspense Self Published Reviewed by Mandi I really enjoyed Carolyn Crane's romantic suspense series, The Associates. Super fun and sexy with a ton of action. She also writes under the pen name Annika Martin. I read Prisoner by her and also co-written by Skye Warren and I liked it although it they walked the line of consent in that one for me (heroine was drugged while he had sex with Continue Reading
Smex Scene Sunday
Hero: Aleksio. Wants revenge on the mafia man who killed his parents and desperate to find his long lost brother. Heroine: Mira. Daughter of the man Aleksio wants killed, and childhood friend of Aleksio. He kidnaps her.....then really dirty things happen. Going to put the scenes under spoiler tags because reasons. *wink* Annika Martin writes sex scenes that are a little intense and rough. Aleksio is a mafia boss and is demanding in bed. But also at times I giggle. Continue Reading
