Crowbones by Anne BishopThe Others #8, World of the Others #3FantasyMarch 8, 2022, by AceARC Review by Angela It seems like forever since the release of the last Others book by this author, but it was really only 2019. When I tell you I was excited to jump back into his world, that would be an understatement. Crowbones was one of my most anticipated releases of 2022. Once again readers find themselves in Lake Silence and Sproing with Vicki, Julian, and the people who live and around Continue Reading
Review: Mr. Wrong Number by Lynn Painter
Mr. Wrong Number by Lynn PainterContemporary RomanceMarch 1st, 2022 by Berkley BooksReviewed by Kate H. If you go into Mr. Wrong Number looking for tropey fun, I think you’ll enjoy it: Texting relationship between strangers; enemies to lovers; the old crush on the brother’s best friend. For one moment in the middle of the book, I thought the book was going to go Cyrano de Bergerac on me, but Lynn Painter reigned it. And of course, there is the trope of the rock bottom Continue Reading
Jen’s Mini Reviews: Books by Debra Anastasia, A. Jade, and Ella Maise
I’m going to review these in order with the best being last. Here we go! First up is Mercy by Debra Anastasia. New author to me that I listened to over the course of several days. Zachery Webber and Muffy Newtown are the narrators. I would listen to Webber read the dictionary. That’s how much I love his voice. Newtown didn’t do it for me, she’s sort of too breathless and didn’t feel like the right voice for her character. Main characters Phoenix (nickname - Nix) and Becca first meet Continue Reading
Review: An Impossible Imposter (Veronica Speedwell #7) by Deanna Raybourn
An Impossible Imposter by Deanna RaybournVeronica Speedwell #7Historical Mystery2/15/2022 by Berkley Review by Angela The Veronica Speedwell series is one of my absolute favorites in the historical mystery genre. I look forward to visiting with Veronica and Stoker every year and can't wait to see what adventures they are getting up to. I also love checking in to see how their relationship is progressing. Let's just say it's one of my comfort series that I've settled into and I enjoy being Continue Reading
Review: Deadly Little Secret (Secret McQueen #11) by Sierra Dean
Deadly Little Secret by Sierra DeanSecret McQueen #11Urban FantasyFebruary 22, 2022 - Self Published Review by Angela I can't tell you how happy I was to get back to the world of vampires, werewolves, demon FBI agents, and Secret McQueen. Secret is a full werewolf after the events in Peru and she, Desmond, and Lucas are back in New York dealing with the fallout. Now that Lucas is officially back from the dead Secret has two husbands and if the sessions at their counselor are any Continue Reading
Audio Book Reviews: A Thousand Boy Kisses by Tillie Cole and Ugly Love by Colleen Hoover
These books are vastly different and both were terrific. First up is A Thousand Boy Kisses by Tillie Cole. So, “love” may not be exactly the right word to describe my listening experience. I don’t normally gravitate to the super sad books. But Rune and Poppy’s story was addicting to me and I pushed through the tears. A Thousand Boy Kisses is a YA tearjerker that walks the line of being so saccharine that it’s almost cringey. The thousand kisses referenced in the title are a jar of Continue Reading
Review: Scarred by Emily McIntire
Scarred by Emily McIntireFairytale Romance, Historical RomanceJanuary 4, 2022 Review by Jen Scarred by Emily McIntire is a dark romance inspired by the Lion King. The author’s first book in this series (saying that lightly, as they really aren’t tied to each other) is Hooked, inspired by Peter Pan. After reading this one, Hooked is on my TBR list! We have two brothers. One, Michael Faasa II, has been freshly kinged and the other, Tristan Faasa, is the hot evil prince with the Continue Reading
Review: A Perfect Equation by Elizabeth Everett
A Perfect Equation by Elizabeth EverettThe Secret Scientists of London #2Historical RomanceFebruary 15, 2022, by Berkley Reviewed by Kate H. The Perfect Equation is a well-paced Regency-era romance that features a bluestocking heroine, a mathematician no less, as well as a bottled-up hero ready to be uncorked. The opening of the book begins with a street protest by the Guardians of Domesticity, part of the noisy and disturbing backlash against women working and Continue Reading
Audio Book Review: Good Girl Complex by Elle Kennedy
Good Girl Complex by Elle KennedyContemporary RomanceFebruary 1, 2022Macmillan AudioARCReview by Jen If the series Outer Banks and the book, After, had a baby…it would be Good Girl Complex by Elle Kennedy. Kennedy is one of my favorite authors, and this book, while predictable, hit all the right spots for me. The story takes place in a college beach town. We have the townies (Pogues for you Outer Banks fans) and the rich college kids. Mackenzie is a Continue Reading
Review: His Fresh Start Cowboy by A.M. Arthur
His Fresh Start Cowboy by A.M. ArthurWoods Ranch #1LGBTQ Contemporary RomanceJanuary 25, 2022, by Carina PressARC Review by Angela It's been a while since I've read a good cowboy romance and this cover called to me as soon as I saw it while putting together the new release list. I noticed that it was labeled as being first in a series so I decided to jump right in. Come to find out this is actually the first book in a spin-off series, with quite a few of the secondary characters making an Continue Reading
