Age of Vice by Deepti KapoorCrime FictionJanuary 3, 2023Penguin Audio Review by Jen Most books that are made into films aren’t as good as the book. There are some exceptions, but the majority just don’t live up to the book. The Age of Vice would make a GREAT film. A better film than it was a book. The story is set in India. It has all the makings of a huge epic movie. Family drama, corruption, sex, violence, enormous wealth and profound poverty. It follows several characters Continue Reading

Happy National Women's History Month! One of the big reasons I love romance books is that they're primarily written by women and for women. They're dramatic, emotional, unapologetically about love and always with a happy ending. I love that women have created and are loyal to one of the most successful genres in publishing. It's harmless and fills me, and so many other women, with such joy. Here's to Romance and the women who write and read them. Moving on… here are some choice TikTok’s for Continue Reading
Review: All the Dangerous Things by Stacy Willingham
All the Dangerous Things by Stacy WillinghamDomestic ThrillerJanuary 10, 2023MacMillan Audio Review by Jen Ohhh….this was such a good one!! All the Dangerous Things by Stacy Willingham kept me guessing till the end. The audiobook was amazing- another one that got me up and walking every morning. What’s it about? Isabelle’s life has had its share of tragedy. The book goes back and forth between Isabelle as a child and Isabelle now. As a child, her younger sister died. Continue Reading
Jen’s Most Anticipated Books of 2023
The Stolen Heir by Holly Black, 1/3: The Folk of the Air trilogy is one of my favorite YA fantasy series. I thought that was it, and then JUST saw that Holly Black is releasing another book in that same world, and “filled with intrigue, betrayal, and dangerous desires.” Yes!!! All The Dangerous Things by Stacy Willingham, 1/10: I listened to this and LOVED it. I’ve been on a bit of a thriller kick and this book completely hit the spot. A son stolen out of his crib in the middle of the night. Continue Reading
This Week on TikTok
I hope you all had a fabulous holiday and are ready for 2023. My daughter is home from college for the break and is inviting over several friends for a sleepover on New Year’s Eve. I’m happy about that…it’s nice to know that she and her friends are safe and not out on the roads. Should be a good night! Now…here we are, the last TikTok post of 2022. The theme is love. Let’s end the year on romance. #5 I’d like a book with this trope, please. Swooning... #4 This gift is absolutely Continue Reading
Jen’s Best Books Of 2022
I can’t believe the year is almost over. I feel like every month since March 2020 has been a bit of a blur. Goodreads tells me I only read 60 books this year. WAY below my goal. I’m not sure I actually logged every book, maybe that's what happened? Or, I'm just lame. :) Anyway…below are my top reads. Let me know what your favorite books were, too! The Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller- I started listening to this in December 2021 and finished in January 2022. I still think about this book. Continue Reading
Jen’s Mini Reviews: Books by Marni Mann, Rachel Kapelke-Dale and Claire Kingsley
I feel a bit out of practice with writing reviews. Its, unfortunately, been a busy few weeks. The good news is, I liked all three of these books. And they were VERY different stories. First up, When Ashes Fall by Marni Mann. This book was heart breaking and inspired by a real life tragedy. Alix is a paramedic. She meets Dylan a wealthy owner of a private jet company and a pilot himself. Their romance is deep, all encompassing, not perfect, but beautiful. They get engaged and then Alix Continue Reading
Review: Broken Lines by Jagger Cole
Broken Lines by Jagger ColeNew Adult RomanceOctober 27, 2022Kindle Unlimited Review by Jen This book wasn’t on my radar at all. Until, someone told me the author was a guy and then I was super intrigued. Plus there's all kinds of delicious trope candy; big age gap, rockstar romance, enemies to lovers, forbidden love in many ways. Jackson Havoc is a huge star. His band is crazy popular. All the guys are friends. When Jackson’s best friend and bandmate dies, Jackson disappears. Continue Reading
This Week on TikTok
Its almost the holidays! My daughter comes home from college this weekend and I’m so excited! Social media is a mess and I’m seriously debating leaving Twitter and wondering about how safe TikTok really is, too. While I ponder my existence on those apps, let’s look at the week on TikTok. #5 Someone PLEASE get me one of these for Christmas. I beg you. #4 I detect no lies here. Elmo preach. #3 This just makes me happy. #2 Actual video of me leaving the house each morning. #1 Continue Reading
Audio Review: Our Missing Hearts by Celeste Ng
Our Missing Hearts by Celeste NgAsian American LiteratureOctober 4, 2022Penguin Audio Review by Jen I’ve always been a bit of a news junkie and as part of that, have paid attention to politics. I actually used to work in news until I got so burned out by the bad news. I was in DC on 9/11, that did me in. It’s tough these days. Constant chaos, angry voices, and spending a few minutes on social media is the equivalent of doom scrolling for me. If you’ve watched, listened to or read Continue Reading
