I’m back! I’ve read a few books lately but haven’t quite felt like talking about them. Sometimes even writing mini reviews can feel stressful. Review content warnings: references to emotional abuse, abortion, grief/death Evvie Drake Starts Over by Linda Holmes- Although not a straight romance, more fiction with romantic elements, it does have a happily ever after. CW: grief, emotional abuse by an intimate partner & parent. The heroine, Evvie like Chevy, is a widow but she is not Continue Reading
A Rant: Stygian by Sherrilyn Kenyon
Stygian by Sherrilyn Kenyon Dark Hunter, #27 Paranormal Romance August 28, 2018 Tor Reviewed by Tori Born before man recorded time, I lived for thousands of years, believing myself to be something I’m not. Someone I’m not. Lied to and betrayed by gods, Daimons, and Dark-Hunters, I’ve struggled to find my way in a world where I’ve been cursed since the moment a vengeful goddess prematurely ripped me from my mother and planted me into the womb of an innocent woman who thought me Continue Reading
Kini’s Friday Kisses
I finished Faking It by Jennifer Crusie and it was everything I needed it to be. Fast paced dialogue, zany characters, an excellent cast of characters, and just enough poor babys. I love the bad sex, or rather I should call it uncompleted sex. Crusie does this often in her books and I am always here for it. There are a few things in the story that are a bit dated, but overall holds up well. Grade: AGoodreads l Amazon Several of the Smexy ladies have read Intercepted by Alexa Martin and Continue Reading
Review: All the Way by Kristen Proby
All The Way by Kristen Proby (Romancing Manhattan #1)Contemporary RomanceReleased: August 21, 2018William Morrow Paperbacks I’ve wanted to read Proby for a while as I’ve always heard good things. As this was a first book in a new series, I thought I’d get in at the beginning, rather than playing catch up with some of her older works. The first thing I do when I sit to write a review is to re-read what I’ve highlighted and any notes that I made while reading. Sometimes, I open that feature Continue Reading
Helyce’s Thursday Thoughts
Helyce’s Thursday Thoughts You know when you read a blurb for a new book and it sounds interesting? Maybe it has an interesting premise--something different from the books you’ve previously read. It might be a new author you haven’t read before, but you’re hopeful that you’ll luck out and find another author you’ll love and can obsess over and anxiously wait for the next book?? Well that didn’t happen to me this week. I chose two books recently that I thought were kind of out there, and I Continue Reading
Mandi’s Monday Musings – More Than You by Mia Sheridan and Knocked Up by Stacey Lynn
More Than Words by Mia Sheridan Releases: June 12, 2018 Contemporary Romance Most of All You, Sheridan's book published last year, is a favorite of mine. It made me feel all the feels. More Than Words was greatly anticipated, but it misses the mark. We meet Jessica and Callen as teenagers, they randomly meet one day at an abandoned train car, as they are both looking for escapism. Jessica's dad is a serial cheater and her mom falls apart each time. Callen's dad verbally abuses and shames Continue Reading

Master Cole by Marie Tuhart Erotic Romance Trifecta Publishing House Released: February 19, 2018 Reviewed by Sheena Full disclosure. I'm no hardcore BDSM enthusiast but I like the stuff and think of myself as reasonably acquainted with the stuff, certainly versed enough to recognize that there is a whole hell of a lot more to being a good Dominant than just telling your sub to sit and wait for you naked every now and then coupled with a few lazy spankings and half-hearted training. Continue Reading
