Angela: Half of these books I've already read because it's been a hard couple of weeks and I needed comfort. It's also my birthday month and I expect my one-clicking to be out of control. HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME! An Unexpected Peril (Veronica Speedwell #6) by Deanna Raybourn 3/2 Historical Mystery- Yep, already read it. This was my first read of this year because I love Veronica and Stoker and I couldn't help myself. This was another great installment in one of my favorite series. Review to Continue Reading
Joint Review: Love at First by Kate Clayborn
Love at First by Kate ClaybornContemporary Romance02/23/2021 by Kensington Joint review by Melinda and Melanie Melinda: Kate Clayborn has become one of the top contemporary authors for me that I look to for emotion and character development. I’ve come to appreciate the love and care that comes through with her writing so much. However, Love at First strikes an uneven tone for me and had flashes of that brilliance that I expect from her, but it didn’t feel like it was carried all Continue Reading
Review: Waiting for a Scot Like You by Eva Leigh
Waiting for a Scot Like You by Eva Leigh (The Union of Rakes #3)February 23, 2021 by AvonHistorical Romance Review by Kate I will admit, I wasn't entirely sure what to expect from Waiting for a Scot Like You, the third book in the Union of Rake series. My Fake Rake was too bland for me, and Would I Lie to the Duke was too anxiety-inducing - but Leigh consistently made me fall in love with the characters so I kept at it. Plus, Waiting for a Scot Like You has my favorite trope - a road Continue Reading

Review: First Comes Like (Modern Love #3) by Alisha Rai
First Comes Like by Alisha RaiContemporary RomanceFebruary 16, 2021, by Avon Review by Melinda I'm a big fan of Alisha Rai's Forbidden Hearts series but was so torn on First Comes Like. What I loved was having a Muslim hijabi protagonist who was not having sex for religious reasons. Jia Ahmed has a story I'd been waiting to hear as she was a beauty influencer, which isn't something I'm exactly interested in IRL, but I wanted to see how she dealt with her Muslim family's expectations. And Continue Reading

The Psy/Changeling Channel: Visions of Heat
Melinda: Phew, right out of the gate there is so much to talk about with this one and consent because touch and lack of consent is intrinsic to Faith's story. But I don't know that it could be told differently and still be the same story? Melanie: Wow, what a difference 2 years makes! I read this book for the first time almost exactly 2 years ago and while I didn’t love it as much as I loved the first book of the series even back then, I definitely think rereading it for a second time raised Continue Reading
Review: Rejected by Jaymin Eve
Rejected by Jaymin EveShadow Beast Shifters #1Paranormal RomanceDecember 8, 2020, Self Published Review by Jen Rejected by Jaymin Eve was a fun escape. I’m loving paranormal-urban fantasy books right now. I enjoyed Jaymin’s Dark Legacy series in 2019 and this new trilogy looked great. I was right! This was an interesting take on the rejected mates trope. Our heroine, Mera, is a member of a very powerful pack. Unfortunately, when she was a child, her dad challenged the Alpha of Continue Reading
Smexy’s February TBR
Angela: I have so many books to read this month. So. Many. And I think they are all historical romance for some reason. There are like seven million historical romance books coming out on the 9th. Wild Rain (Women Who Dare #2) by Beverly Jenkins Historical Romance 2/9- Y'all Ms. Bev is an auto-read for me and I've been putting this off so I have it to look forward to. The Duke Heist (The Wild Wynchesters #1) by Erica Ridley Historical Romance 2/9- I was drawn in by the cover and then I Continue Reading
