I’ve read a couple of books lately and want to tell you about them. Game Changer by Kelly Jamieson- I had taken a break from hockey romance for a while and have recently started to pick them up again. This is part of a series but I was able to read it as a stand alone. I was drawn to this because it is a jilted bride story. The story opens with Molly walking down the aisle and when it is time to say her vows, she reads texts from her intended to another woman. She flees the ceremony with Continue Reading
Guest Post: Amy Aislin talks about preparing a book for release
Thank you for joining me to celebrate the release of my newest m/m sports romance, Shots on Goal (Stick Side #3), and thank you to Smexy Books for allowing me to briefly take over the blog! Shots on Goal is the third book in the Stick Side series. Each novel features different main characters and can be read as standalones. Shots has a prickly NHL player who cooks his way into his teammates’ good graces, and an optimistic college senior trying to save his local library. Shots was Continue Reading
Guest Post: Writing Cute Smut by Rachel Reid
We already had a post planned for Rachel to talk about "cute smut" and I saw this tweet from Rachel and I practically begged Stephanie at Carina to ask Rachel to expand on this tweet in her post. Thank you Stephanie and Rachel for this post. (Side note, I will have a mini-review for Tough Guy tomorrow) Ryan was pretty sure he had an ugly dick. That was the first line I wrote of the third book in my Game Changers series, Tough Guy. It didn’t end up being the first line of the book, but it Continue Reading
Kini’s Friday Kisses
I finished two ARCs for upcoming releases, DNF one older book from my TBR, and I am 70% on another book. Snowy weekends allow lots of reading time. Overnight Sensation by Sarina Bowen- This is part of her Brooklyn Bruisers hockey series, which I have mostly enjoyed. This was a miss for me. Not enough that I DNF it, but I can’t say I truly enjoyed it. I did like seeing, even minimally, some of the characters from previous books. Heidi, the heroine, is kind of a Mary Sue. She is a Continue Reading
Review: The Instigator by Stephanie Julian
The Instigator by Stephanie Julian (Redtails Hockey #4) Released: February 16, 2018 Contemporary Romance Self Published Reviewed by Mandi Derek Flaherty is the instigator in this book. Both on the ice and in his personal life. He plays for the "AHL" a minor league hockey division and really hopes to make it to the big leagues eventually. He plays for the Redtails, a good team heading to the playoffs. He has a good relationship with all of his teammates - a lot of smack talk, laughing Continue Reading
Review: So Over You by Kate Meader
So Over You by Kate Meader (Chicago Rebels #2) Sports/Hockey Romance December 4, 2017 Pocket Star Reviewed by Kini Favorite Quote: “Bella, they are one and the same. I will not be satisfied with a woman who has no dreams or ambitions. My woman is the North Star in my night sky, but also in her own. If she is not there to guide me, there is only darkness. For us both.” This is book two in a series about three sisters who inherit a hockey team. I really enjoyed book one and reviewed Continue Reading
Review: Head Coach by Lia Riley
Head Coach by Lia Riley Series: Hellions Angels, #2 Contemporary Sports Romance November 21, 2017 Avon Impulse Reviewed by Kini So I read the first book in this series earlier this year and I liked it just fine. I have read several others by this author and enjoyed them. I was looking forward to this book because surly grumpy heroes are something I love. Unfortunately, this book lets et me down in so many ways. The blurb says this is an enemies to lovers story. And I guess the case Continue Reading
Review: The Proposition by Elizabeth Hayley
The Proposition by Elizabeth Hayley The Players #2 Contemporary Romance October 31, 2017 Swerve Reviewed by Kini Favorite Quote: This kiss was a promise— a promise that there could be more. That their story didn’t have to only be about a hockey player and an escort. It could be about Ben and Ryan. And that would be more than enough. It would, in fact, be everything. The blurb for this book got me with its description of a fake romance, one of my favorite tropes. Also at first glance Continue Reading
Review: Maybe This Christmas by Jennifer Snow
Maybe This Christmas by Jennifer Snow (Colorado Ice #3) Released: September 26, 2017 Contemporary Romance Forever Reviewed by Mandi I love to try holiday romance, but to be honest, I find that the majority I try just don't do it for me. I've found some super great holiday reads, but I go in a little wary. Jennifer Snow is a new to me author, and I love a hockey hero so I gave it a try and hooray, I liked it! It's not necessarily super-holiday, but hockey is prominent and it's a well Continue Reading

Irresistible You by Kate Meader Chicago Rebels #1 Sports/Hockey Romance August 14, 2017 MIRA Reviewed by Kini Favorite Quote: He stared at it for so long she felt foolish and dropped it. “This isn’t Would You Rather, Harper. It doesn’t have to be an either-or choice, a fulfilling career or a happy personal life.” He cupped her face with both hands, searching for Lord knew what. Whatever it was, he wouldn’t find it. “I’m asking you to be a little bit brave here. Lean on me. Let me love Continue Reading
