Angela- March felt like it was approximately 7,000 days long and I'm glad it's over. Here's to April and hopefully some great reading. Hunting Fiends for the Ill-Equipped (The Guild Codex: Demonized #3) by Annette Marie 4/3 Urban Fantasy- I've enjoyed this author since discovering her through the KU program. This is a fun series and I'm looking forward to getting caught up with Robin and Zylas. Will they figure out how to free him from the pact they made? Will they take things to the next Continue Reading
Dream Maker by Kristen Ashley
Dream Maker doesn't release until May 26, but I wanted to share this review early so you know what decision to make :) I am not expert in Kristen Ashley’s books, but I have read over 30 of them. For me, Ashley is at her best when she doesn't go too far off course from her typical formula (damsel in distress/women in peril + alphahole + over the top drama + interesting cast of characters + overly long descriptions and conversations). I found that Dream Maker didn’t stray too far from Continue Reading
Monday Mini’s- Mini reviews for books by Christina Lauren and Katie Porter
The Honey Don’t List by Christina Lauren- I have read many of Lauren’s books. They are usually very enjoyable to me. Although I really disliked the last one, Twice in a Blue Moon for lots of reasons. I still wanted to read this book. I didn’t love it and I didn’t hate it. It felt similar in a few ways to Dating You Hating You, work enemies of some sort that fall in love. (CW: workplace sexism, emotional abuse by boss, disabled heroine) There was nothing spectacular about this book for me. Continue Reading
Kini’s Friday Kisses- Mini reviews for books by Corinne Michaels and Allison Ashley
All I Ask by Corinne Michaels- I picked this up at the recommendation of my good friend Estelle, publicist at Forever Romance. She told me it was a second chance romance between single parents who are 35 ish. I felt like I needed to read this and then had really high expectations. (CW: widower hero, grief, ailing parent) The heroine, Teagan, is struggling to get by. She runs her parents antique store. She is raising her teenage daughter alone. One day the school calls and Teagan’s Continue Reading
Kini’s Friday Kisses: Mini reviews for books by Tammy Robinson, Ainslie Paton, and Nalini Singh
Photos of You by Tammy Robinson- This is 100% not a romance, but it does have a romantic arc. I knew going in this would not have an HEA but I wanted to give it a try. CW: death, dying, main character with breast cancer. The main protagonist, Ava, discovers her cancer has not only returned but it is aggressively terminal. She wants the rest of her life to be on her terms and decides to have a wedding before she dies. It was a journey that had some brutal moments as Ava talked about her Continue Reading
Did Not Finish Friday
I like to do an occasional wrap up of books that I did not finish. I am a fickle mood reader and DNFing a book doesn’t necessarily mean it was a bad book, it typically just means it did not work for me at that moment. Sometimes I like to think I will go back and try it again but that has happened maybe twice in all my years of reading/reviewing. Walk Me Home by Liza Kendall- This was out in January and I tried to read it but I couldn’t get into it. I couldn’t figure out what the story was Continue Reading
Smexy’s March TBR
Angela- Remember last month when I said I had a gazillion books to read this month? I was totally serious. For some reason a crap ton of great books release every March (which also happens to be my birthday month) and every March I overload myself on ARCs I simply must have. Here are just a few of the books I'm most anticipating this month. House of Earth and Blood (Crescent City #1) by Sarah J Mass 3/3 Fantasy- As soon as I found out this author was releasing a book in a new series I had to Continue Reading
Kini’s Friday Kisses- The Cowboy Edition with books by Carly Bloom and Rebekah Weatherspoon
I don’t read many Cowboy books these days. No real reason, they just kind of fell off my radar. A few weeks back, Forever Romance was doing an Instagram Read-A-Long of Big Bad Cowboy by Carly Bloom. They posted a quote that piqued my interest (that I can’t find now) and I messaged my friend Estelle, publicist extraordinaire at Forever, and said “I’m going to have to read this, aren’t I?” Estelle was kind enough to send me an e-ARC of Big Bad Cowboy. I dove right in. I had already had A Cowboy to Continue Reading
Kini’s Friday Kisses- Mini reviews for Valentine’s Day Novellas by Jodie Slaughter, Erin McLellan, and Jackie Lau
I had every intention of writing this last week in time for Valentine’s Day, but I didn’t. But even though that day has passed, I still want to tell you about the Valentine’s Day novellas I read. Apparently I only read in themes/sets of three now. Next week I will have a round-up of a trio of Cowboy books :) Anyway, back to this week. First Up- Just One More by Jodie Slaughter. I REALLY wanted to love this story. I really enjoyed White Whiskey Bargain last year. The cover of this is Continue Reading
Kini’s Friday Kisses- Mini reviews for books by Mia Sosa and Jayci Lee
The Worst Best Man by Mia Sosa- Look, I think y’all should just go ahead and get this book. I think you will not be disappointed. It is funny, sexy, fast-paced, and emotional Lina, the heroine, is a wedding planner. When the book opens she gets jilted on the day of her wedding. Her almost brother in law, Max, is the one who delivers the news. Fast forward three years and Lina and Max are forced to work together. Lina is not happy about this, but she also recognizes that Max is handsome. Lina Continue Reading
