Smexy’s Top Ten 3/13/2020

March 13, 2020 by Angela

Y'all, it's my birthday weekend. I'm stressed, the world is on lockdown, but I'm celebrating anyway. (at home, but it's happening) 10. This Top Ten is all the things that made me happy this week and these good pups taking a group picture at doggy day care made me smile. More than three dozen dogs at a doggie day care in Ohio posed for a photograph that looks like it was taken by a dog with a selfie stick.https://t.co/6jXsm2eBo3 pic.twitter.com/l3pBxKyArj— Shannon Watts (@shannonrwatts) Continue Reading

Kini’s Friday Kisses: Mini reviews for books by Tammy Robinson, Ainslie Paton, and Nalini Singh

March 13, 2020 by Kini

Photos of You by Tammy Robinson- This is 100% not a romance, but it does have a romantic arc. I knew going in this would not have an HEA but I wanted to give it a try. CW: death, dying, main character with breast cancer. The main protagonist, Ava, discovers her cancer has not only returned but it is aggressively terminal. She wants the rest of her life to be on her terms and decides to have a wedding before she dies. It was a journey that had some brutal moments as Ava talked about her Continue Reading

"Theresa Romain writes with a delightfully romantic flair." –USA Today bestselling author Julianne MacLean Unladylike Risk Jane Tindall has never had money of her own or exceptional beauty. Her gifts are more subtle: a mind like an abacus, a talent for play-acting--and a daring taste for gambling. But all the daring in the world can't help with the cards fixed against her. And when Edmund Ware, Baron Kirkpatrick, unwittingly spoils her chance to win a fortune, her reputation is ruined Continue Reading

Angela’s Minis- Undercover Bromance by Lyssa Kay Adams and Love Hard by Nalini Singh

March 12, 2020 by Angela

Undercover Bromance by Lyssa Kay AdamsBromance Book Club #2Contemporary Romance/Romantic ComedyMarch 10, 2020 by BerkleyARC I enjoyed the first book in this series quite a bit. Fun, sexy, and I really liked that it was the marriage in trouble trope. We've met both of the main protagonists before as they both appeared in book one. Braden Mack is a club owner and member of the Bromance Book Club and Liv is a pastry chef and Thea's sister. I wasn't a huge Liv fan in the last book, mainly Continue Reading

Top Ten Reasons to Read: Love Hard by Nalini Singh

March 11, 2020 by Sheena

Jacob Esera, star rugby player and young single father, has worked hard to create a joyous life for his six-year-old daughter. After the death of his childhood sweetheart soon after their daughter’s birth, all Jake wants is safety and stability. No risks. No wild chances. And especially no Juliet Nelisi, former classmate, scandal magnet, and a woman who is a thorn in his side. As a lonely teenager, Juliet embraced her bad-girl reputation as a shield against loneliness and rejection. Years Continue Reading

March 9, 2020 by Angela

Remember that time you accidentally sexted your in-laws? Yeah. I just did that. Except worse. Now my million social media followers are reading and sharing the rude, smartass message I meant to send privately to my little sister...and I’m officially public enemy number one. I’m Beck Ryder. Former boy bander. Underwear model. Fashion mogul. And I just buried my entire leg in my mouth—not just my foot—modern internet style, and publicly insulted my sister’s neighbor. Sarah Continue Reading

Excerpt: The Magnolia Sisters by Alys Murray

March 9, 2020 by Kini

The Magnolia Sisters is a contemporary romance set on a Northern California flower farm. Featuring Pride and Prejudice vibes, a loving send-up and subversion of small-town romances the tropes we love (and sometimes love to hate) in them, and a plus-size heroine, The Magnolia Sisters is the perfect escapist romance!   Excerpt Our hero, Luke Martin, has just walked in on our heroine, trying on wedding dresses on “behalf” of Luke’s meddling, matchmaking sister. He didn’t know the Continue Reading

Guest Post: Second Chances Romances by Amanda Weaver

March 9, 2020 by Kini

Amanda Weaver's new novel, Love Around the Corner, is out now, Amanda is here to talk about one of my favorite tropes- Second Chance. I think people love reading second chance romances because most of us have someone in our past we still wonder about, some relationship that didn’t end the way we wanted it to. Don’t we all secretly google that one who got away to see how their life has worked out? Gemma, the heroine in Love Around the Corner has definitely googled her ex, although she’d die Continue Reading

Did Not Finish Friday

March 6, 2020 by Kini

I like to do an occasional wrap up of books that I did not finish. I am a fickle mood reader and DNFing a book doesn’t necessarily mean it was a bad book, it typically just means it did not work for me at that moment. Sometimes I like to think I will go back and try it again but that has happened maybe twice in all my years of reading/reviewing.  Walk Me Home by Liza Kendall- This was out in January and I tried to read it but I couldn’t get into it. I couldn’t figure out what the story was Continue Reading
