Guest Author Rose Lerner and Giveaway

March 21, 2014 by Mandi 18 Comments

Rose Lerner's Sweet Disorder released this week, and she is here today to talk a little bit about it. I adored this book and will be reviewing it later this morning. William Blake's Songs of Innocence and of Experience contrast two opposite views of the world: that it's a safe place full of joy, and that it's a scary place full of sorrow and anger. One poem I've always loved is "The Clod and the Pebble," which poses a question central to the romance genre and to Sweet Disorder—What does it Continue Reading

Satisfaction by Sarah Mayberry Released: February 28, 2014 Contemporary Romance Self Published Reviewed by Mandi Maggie Hendricks owns a book store, has great friends and is generally a happy person. There is only one thing that really bothers her - she has never had an orgasm. Ever. As in, not by herself or with another person. She is so sick of pretending to have one when she is with someone and sick of not being able to get there herself. So when a friend of hers tells her that she Continue Reading

Review: The Pirate’s Secret Baby by Darlene Marshall

March 19, 2014 by Mandi 1 Comment

The Pirate's Secret Baby by Darlene Marshall Released: March 2, 2014 Historical Romance Amber Quill Press Reviewed by Mandi I've enjoyed Darlene Marshall's books in the past and she does a nice job with The Pirate's Secret Baby. The baby is actually eight year old Mattie, whose mother has recently died. Her governess, Lydia tracks down Mattie's father, Robert St. Armand, the captain of the Prodigal Son and known pirate. Robert has been with many (and I mean many) women, so it's a shock Continue Reading

Review: It’s Always Been You by Jessica Scott

March 19, 2014 by Tori 3 Comments

It’s Always Been You (Coming Home, #5) by Jessica Scott Romance Contemporary/Military March 4, 2014 Forever Reviewed by Tori Favorite Quote: “Do you need a hug?” Captain Ben Teague lost his faith in everything the Army teaches when his best friend and mentor is unjustly accused of disobeying orders during an intense firefight that left Ben scarred and wary of the Army's objectives. Four years later, he is forced back into command when a military sanctioned witch hunt makes Ben part of Continue Reading

Audiobook Recommendations

March 18, 2014 by Mandi 29 Comments

I go through phases of obsessively listening to audio books and then forgetting them for awhile. Right now I'm in the obsessive listening phase. When I run errands, clean the house, fold laundry - I have my ear buds in with a book on. I'm currently listening to Feral Sins by Suzanne Wright and this book is FUN. I really enjoy the narrator too (who can make or break an audio book). Also let me note that I'm listening to the rereleased version as the first version of this book has an odd scene Continue Reading

March 17, 2014 by Tori 2 Comments

Perfect Catch (Boys of Summer, #2) by Sierra Dean Romance Contemporary/Sports E book, 241 pages March 11, 2014 Samhain Publishing Reviewed by Tori Favorite Quote: ”I like pizza” “If you didn’t, I don’t think we could be friends.” Die-hard baseball fan Alice Darling loves being a minor league umpire but being a woman means any and all baseball players are off limits; a lesson she learned the hard way nine years ago. With a daughter and brother to care for, she can’t afford a single Continue Reading

Smex Scene Sunday

March 16, 2014 by Mandi 7 Comments

Heroes: Ace and Cruz. Both a bit tortured. Both in love with Rachel. Both do dirty things together without Rachel. Heroine: Rachel. Longing to belong and to show everyone she is not all sweet and innocent. Ace and Cruz can definitely help with this.   Cruz caught her face between his hands and held her there. "You're a brat with Ace, but you're so sweet and good for me, aren't you?" "Always," she breathed. "I love the way you look at me, especially when you stop fighting Continue Reading
