Interview with Carly Phillips and Giveaway
We are happy to have Carly Phillips at Smexy today for a chat! Tell us about yourself. I’m a stay at home mom who is lucky enough to write and publish contemporary romance. I have two teenage daughters, one is nineteen and away at college, the other is fifteen and needs constant driving to and from everywhere. When I’m home and not working, I’m at the beck and call of two dogs, a 4 year old wheaten terrier named Bailey and an eight month old Havanese named Brady. I’m married to a guy I met Continue Reading
Smexy’s Top Ten–August 19th
10. My week – While you read this I’m at the movie Spy Kids 4-D. I think they give you stickers you scratch and sniff during certain parts of the movie. Oh fun. *save me* 9. Have you guys heard of Kindlegraph? It is a really cool thing that allows authors to send a personalized signature to your kindle. If you go to the site it lists the books and authors that are available. Once you sign in with Twitter, you can search for your favorite author. I wish it was broken down into genres Continue Reading
Guest Author Katie Reus and Giveaway
Why I Love Romance Thanks so much to Mandi for having me as a guest at Smexy Books! This month Deadly Obsession released from Carina Press so in celebration I’m on a short blog tour discussing all things romance! I read romance for so many different reasons. Almost always for the happily ever after (I’m not a fan of happy for now, I want the juicy emotional ending that promises of HEA…though there are exceptions), but I find myself reading specific authors for specific reasons. When I’m Continue Reading
Smexy’s Top Ten for August 12th
Hey ya’ll. Tori here. I’m doing the top 10 today since Mandi abandoned me and went to the AAD conference in Philly Wednesday. So here I am, all alone *sigh*, by myself *sigh*, while my partner is laughing it up and completely forgetting about me. *sob* Here are a few things I'm using to alleviate the loneliness. 10. I recently got cable. I know, welcome to the 21st century huh? Anyways, I am not one for reality tv but Billy The Extreminator on A&E has me hooked. Is it his rocking Continue Reading
Smexy’s Top Ten–August 5th
10. It’s August! School starts this month. Not until the 30th but hey, who’s counting? ME. It’s hot, humid and I’ve eaten one too many of my mother’s salted caramel cupcakes (which are OMG amazing and I need to get the recipe from her and share it with you). 9. Okay folks, take a deep breath. Let’s all hold hands and gather around. The news: Ilona Andrews announced on their blog yesterday that there will not be another Kate Daniels book until 2013. Let’s have a collective SNIFFLE. Kate Continue Reading
Tori’s Rant: Carbon Copy Angels
Lately I’ve noticed you can’t swing a bag in a bookstore without taking out a shelf of angel stories. YA, Adult, manga, coloring books, faux tattoos...the new crack is angels. Good, bad, bad but will become good, good but will become bad. They are all there. I recently read four angel stories and realized what it is about them that annoys me. Religion. I find the addition of Christianity (or any religion) as the main plot line to be, well, a mood killer. Bear with me. I have nothing Continue Reading
The Smexy Family is Growing
Tori and I are happy to share with you today that we have two new reviewers starting at Smexy Books! Helyce and May. I’ve been thinking for awhile now about bringing on a new reviewer or two. To keep up with reviews, Tori and I have a very strict reading schedule. Which we are not complaining about, because if we didn’t read every day, we would go insane. We have to read. But at the same time, we get these great recommendations from others, and if the book is not on our Continue Reading
Mandi’s Weekend at Lori Foster’s
I got my conference cherry popped! Or something like that. Last Friday, Bells and I hopped in my “Van O’Fun” and drove eight hours to Cincinnati, Ohio to attend the Lori Foster Author/Reader Get together. We had a blast. The drive itself wasn’t too bad. Our route took us west through the mountains (or at least as mountainous as Maryland can get) and there were many ooh and ahhs as we took it all in. Bells had her ipod going, and all of a sudden a Kenny Rogers song came on, which made me gasp. Continue Reading
