I just finished Lord of Scoundrels by Loretta Chase. Yes, I am the last historical romance fan on the planet to have read this book. I told my husband I can’t believe it came out in 1995 and I have never read it!! He doesn’t seem to think 1995 was that long ago…but I have missed 14 years of obsessing over this book! (14 yrs ago I probably would not have appreciated it like I do now though) I am in complete love with both Sebastian and Jessica. In my opinion, this book was perfection. The tortured feelings Sebastian went through. Sigh! I have Your Scandalous Ways sitting here..might have to pick up that soon. I might have to add Sebastian to my list of boyfriends. I am actually more in love with Jessica. She surprised me at every turn. This one is going to be reread quite often:)
I also finished another book that is a few years old, Seduction’s Gift by Angela Knight in the Hot Blooded Anthology. Hello!!! Lancelot as a vampire!?! How did I miss this one!! Someone recommended the Mageverse series on a message board I go to, so I picked up the anthology not knowing anything about it. I love to read King Arthur legends and when I started reading Seduction’s Gift I about died when Lancelot grew fangs. Very neat concept…going to have to get the next in the series.
Tidbits from around the web:
MLR Press now has an online bookstore! Check it out!
Kalayna Price, author of Once Bitten, has announced she is now under contract to write five more books, four of which will be in her “Haven” world. If you are a fan of urban fantasy, you definitely have to check out Once Bitten!! Here is a review I did of it a while ago.
I am going to start Heir to the Shadows tonight by Anne Bishop. I read Daughter of the Blood, the first in the Black Jewels Trilogy a few months ago and after a rocky start, ended up LOVING it. I don’t know what took me so long to get the rest of the series. I am really looking froward to see how it plays out.
Have you been surprised by any older books lately?

Hi Mandi! So glad you discovered Lord of Scoundrels, which is probably the best romance of all time. Also, I see that you are reading the Hot Blooded anthology…the story by Emma Holly, The Night Owl, is absolutely fantastic! Have you read that one yet? I am getting my first novel published by The Wild Rose Press…it’s called Sweet Inspiration, and it’s about the oldest son of Santa Claus who happens to be a master pastry chef (I realize this sounds crazy!)- the sensual “food” scenes in Holly’s story are amazing…she is a huge source of inspiration for me! Happy romance reading- Yours truly, Penelope
