Aguirre, Andrews, Dare and Ward, Oh My!

September 29, 2009 by Mandi 26 Comments

Four of my favorite authors have books coming out today! *does happy dance*

Sirantha Jax isn’t known for diplomatic finesse. As a “Jumper” who navigates ships through grimspace, she’s used to kicking ass first and taking names later—much later. Not exactly the obvious choice to sell the Conglomerate to the Ithtorians, a people whose opinions of humans are as hard as their exoskeletons.

And Ithiss-Tor council meetings aren’t the only place where Ambassador Jax needs to maneuver carefully. Her lover, March, is frozen in permanent “kill” mode, and his hair-trigger threatens to sabotage the talks—not to mention their relationship.

But Jax won’t give up on the man or the mission. With the Outskirts
beleaguered by raiders, pirates, and the flesh-eating Morgut, an
alliance with Ithiss-Tor may be humanity’s only hope. Which has
Jax wondering why a notorious troublemaker like her was given the job…

I am a total Ann Aguirre fan girl. Doubleblind, the third in the series, is a great addition to the Jax series!! If you have not started this series, I strongly suggest you start with Grimspace. Trust me, you will not be disappointed! My review will be posted next week but I must say I loved it!!!

Rose Drayton lives on the Edge, between the world of the Broken (where people drive cars, shop at Wal-Mart, and magic is a fairy tale) and the Weird (where blueblood aristocrats rule, changelings roam, and the strength of your magic can change your destiny). Only Edgers like Rose can easily travel from one world to the next, but they never truly belong in either.

Rose thought if she practiced her magic, she could build a better life for herself. But things didn’t turn out how she planned, and now she works a minimum wage, off the books job in the Broken just to survive. Then Declan Camarine, a blueblood noble straight out of the deepest part of the Weird, comes into her life, determined to have her (and her power).

But when a terrible danger invades the Edge from the Weird, a flood of creatures hungry for magic, Declan and Rose must work together to destroy them—or they’ll devour the Edge and everyone in it . . .

On The Edge is the first book in a new series by Gordon and Ilona Andrews. You all are going to fall in love with Rose, Declan and the entire family. My review will be posted tomorrow but I will tell you right now I gave it five stars:) Perfect blend of urban fantasy and romance.

Only one thing could convince Sir Tobias Aldridge, an incorrigible rake, to profess undying fidelity to a woman he’s just met. Revenge. What better way to get back at his enemy, than by stealing the scoundrel’s sister? Not that Toby finds it a chore, seducing a beguiling, sultry beauty freshly arrived from the West Indies. When the prize is Isabel Grayson, vengeance is doubly rewarding.

Isabel is determined to marry a wealthy, powerful lord and become a lady of influence, using her rank and fortune to fight social injustice. Sir Toby, with his paltry title and infamous reputation, is unsuitable husband material—but he makes her blood race, her heart pound, and her long-buried passions come to the surface. If she can reform the charming devil, she’ll get exactly what she craves: society’s respect. But it’s a dangerous gamble. For if Toby wins this battle of persuasion, Isabel could lose her heart.

Tessa Dare came out with her debut novel, Goddess of the Hunt, which I just read this month. I am already squeeing over this author. Seriously, if you are a historical romance fan or even just a romance lover in general, you must read these books! When I go to the store today to pick up A Lady of Persuasion, I am also getting the second in the series, The Surrender of a Siren.
Redemption isn’t a word Jim Heron knows much about—his specialty, both personally and professionally, is revenge, and to him, sin is all relative. But everything changes when he becomes a fallen angel and is charged with saving the souls of seven people from the seven deadly sins. His weapon: the power of love. His enemy: the darkest of evil. And failure is not an option.

Vincent Di Pietro has surrendered himself to his business—until fate intervenes in the form of a tough-talking, Harley-riding, self-professed savior, and a woman who will make him question his destiny. With an ancient evil ready to claim him, Vin has to work with a fallen angel not only to win his beloved over…but to redeem his very soul.

I have not read this one yet, although by the time you read this post I will have it in my hands ;)

I recently found on her message boards, the next book in this series (The Fallen Angels) will be called CRAVE.

Also, today J.R. Ward is having an open house on her message boards from 4-10pm EST. She will be “hanging out” and some brothers (or angels) might be there to chat too. Go HERE for more information.

**Edited to Add: JR Ward will be having an online chat to talk about Covet, Tuesday October 20 at 8pm EST. Go HERE for more information.

Now – stop reading this post and go buy these books!

Happy Reading :)

Oh JR Ward…I hope we get some good lines out of her. Anything has to be better than "he kissed the diamonds on the soles of her Keds" (not the actual words but darn close!)

No, JR Ward (aka Jessica Bird) is not on Twitter. In Jessica Bird news, I did hear they are going to re-release her books soon.

That is a great price for Covet!

Today is a BIG DAY!! I'm hitting Borders' directly after work — Meljean Brook's new one is out too!

I'm so behind with Ann Aguirre. And Ilona, for that matter — I read the first "magic" book and haven't gotten my hands on the rest of the series, but I did start On The Edge this morning on the bus. It will have to be set aside tonight when I get Covet into my hot little hands.

I just stopped at the store on my way home to get Doubleblind and ended walking out with Lady of Persuasion, Soulless and The Madness of Lord Ian Mackenzie.

I figured I could wait for Covet and On the Edge for next week's purchase (with Demon Forged of course)!
