Smexy is in the Bookstore!

October 6, 2009 by Mandi 43 Comments

I have known the manager of our local bookstore, Little Professor, for some time now. *waves* Hi Sarah!! A while ago, she asked me if I would want to do a “Smexy Recommends” display at her store. I thought it was a great idea! So I came up with twelve of my favorite books/series and wrote up little summaries about each one. We decided we needed a giveaway. So we stuffed a gift basket full of – An Edward Cullen action figure (hello!! I have one – and everyone else must have one too), copies of Some Girls Bite by Chloe Neill and Dark Slayer by Christine Feehan, a journal, lipstick from Sephora, and a gift certificate to the liquor store – let’s face it – one of my favorite places to visit. Smexy is a lush. Anyway, back on track – we have a drawing and will randomly select someone in the near future to win all the goodies.

My display:

I know – the pink is so…last week ;)

Included are:

Darkfever – Karen Marie Moning
Halfway to the Grave – Jeaniene Frost
The Rest Falls Away – Colleen Gleason
Dark Lover – J.R. Ward
Slave to Sensation – Nalini Singh
Revealed – Kate Noble
Duke of Shadows – Meredith Duran
Wicked Lovely – Melissa Marr
Blue Bloods – Melissa De La Cruz
Pleasure Unbound – Larissa Ione
Marked – P.C. and Kristin Cast (Sarah made me put this one in ;)
Moon Called – Patricia Briggs
Here is the gift basket:

My mom made the cowboy, man-titty purse (seen in the back). My poor mom, the things I make her do, thanks mom!! :).

I guess people have been noticing it because books have been sold. Larissa Ione’s Pleasure Unbound was the first to go.

So, hello to any local followers :) And thank you to Sarah for doing a lot of the work!

Great Mandi! I wish we have bookstores like that over here where we can just buy the novels we want to read instead of the so-called intellectual ones!

How awesome to have a relationship with a bookstore like that! *tamping down my green eyed monster* I'm just a tad too far away to come visit, and I usually go to the huge bookstores here in DC where I never see the same customer service person twice. Kramer Books is the only small-ish one near me and they don't sell enough romance for me to go there often.

But what a fabulous display you made and such a great way to recommend to other book buyers, just such a cool community feel to it!

Very cool what the bookstore did, nice.

Little Professor had a great idea! In most of the box stores I go to the Recommend Reads section does not carry over into Romance and definitely not Paranormal Romance.
