Smexy’s Top Ten – August 20th

August 20, 2010 by Mandi 29 Comments

10. My week – The beginning was peaceful – kids went swimming, I got a lot of reading time in. Now we are dog sitting my mother inlaw’s Dalmatian. My house is made for my little, half-crippled pug – not for a large dog! Last night hubs took a block of cheese out of the refrigerator and put it on the kitchen counter. He turned around and the cheese was gone. *shakes fist* I like cheese!

9. Jeaniene Frost is holding an early contest to win an ARC of This Side of the Grave, Cat and Bones #5. To enter, you have to name Cat’s kitty! In One Foot in the Grave, Cat adopted a little cat, and it has remained nameless through the book. The contest ends this Sunday, 8/22 so get your names in there. Go HERE for the entry on her blog. Note – you will still not receive the arc for a few months, but I say anytime you get to read about Bones early, go for it :)

Rolling Stone Cover Shoot ala Photoshop8. Ok, so the REAL cover of the Rolling Stones magazine includes Sookie, but isn’t the photoshopped cover much better? I am sick of Sookie and her naked butt getting all the sex scenes this year. Scoot over Bill and Sookie and let someone else have a turn. Eric preferably! Or Alcide!! And I will never forgive Jason for shooting Franklin! My beloved sexy psycho (see right sidebar…hehe). Stupid Tara. Just cowboy up woman and become his vampire bride. Then we all could have been happy ;)

7.  Borders is coming out with the Micro Cruz reader ($199, color, music and web browing), and Cruz Tablet ($299, 7’’ color) in September. Go HERE to see it at Borders, and HERE to see it on the Cruz site.

Love Romance Passion6. I want to give a shout out to Love Romance Passion today. Keira writes a wonderful blog including book reviews and lots of great discussion on book topics. For example, recently she asked, why is it the men that always have the paranormal abilities in our books? Go check her out.

5. Tori’s Friday 56:

“Wow! Your first kiss in years and it’s a criminal? Sis, your gonna have to watch out. You’ve got a thing for bad boys. Look at Sean.”
Her face was on fire. Surely the house sprinkler system would activate at any moment.

How to play Friday 56.

  • Grab the book nearest you. Right now

  • Turn to page 56.

  • Find the fifth sentence.

  • Post that sentence (plus one or two others if you like) along with these instructions on your blog or (if you do not have your own blog) in the comments section of this blog.

  • Post a link along with your post back to this blog.

  • Don’t dig for your favorite book, the coolest, the most intellectual. Use the CLOSEST.

Happy Friday!!

4. Last week I mentioned starting in September, Dorchester is going to an all e-book format. Now, more news that Dorchester is in trouble.

3. One of my favorite author’s Ava March, who writes delicious and naughty m/m historical romances has good news. She is writing Convincing Leopold, the sequel to Convincing Arthur. YAY! I adored Convincing Arthur!! She also has in the works the third in her bound series, Bound Forever.

Hats, hats, hats2. Did we enjoy the hat episode on Project Runway last night? I thought Heidi looked a bit ridiculous with the stem sticking out of her head a the end, but hey – I shop at Kohls and Target, who am I to judge? ;) Still to early in the season for me to have a favorite. Will report back next week.

1. This weekend I am reading a new book by Aline Hunter (aka J.A. Saare) and starting a book I got at BEA, Married with Zombies. Have a nice weekend and happy reading!

I'm almost done with season one of True Blood. I can't wait to start on season 2. I am Team Bill all the way.

Tara cracks me up like you wouldn't believe.

I love the photoshoped cover. Wish I had thought of it. My husband's mouth dropped to the floor when he saw it. LOL

I love the photoshopped cover, definitely. I haven't heard of Married with Zombies but I'm definitely going to check it out. I recently picked up Breathers by S.G. Browne, since I'm in the mood for some zombie action. ;-)

Hope you have a great weekend!

I love the photoshopped cover :) I like book Sookie, but TV Sookie doesn’t do anything for me.

I’ll join you in grieving for Franklin. “Hey Tara look how fast I can type motherf**ker” LOL He was my favorite part of this season. I couldn’t care less about Bill, Sookie, Sam, Tommy or Jason. I guess I’ll have to focus on Russell and his crystal bowl full of Talbot. More Eric would be good too. I’d also love to see Pam act more like book Pam. She isn’t nearly snarky enough.

Married With Zombies is a fun read! It was my first zombie title and yes, sometimes the images in my head were freaky and yes, I had nightmares about my brain being eaten but…sometimes the book was really funny. I hope you enjoy it!

The hat episode was bizarre and I'm not sure why Treacy is such a hat guru. I did think the mask was cool but that designer totally dropped the ball and designed a cool dress that did not fit with her hat.

Anna – Oh good! I haven't seen any reviews for it yet (but I haven't looked). I enjoy zombie reads! Gross=good.

It was bizarre! as a lot of their epis :)

I'm kind of meh about Project Runway this season so far. I really thought Christopher should have been in the top. I loved his gray jacket. And Michael C. should not have won — the other Michael's design was much more interesting.

I read about Jeaniene's contest the other day. My problem with naming her cat seems to be that my imagination has run away and hid over the past couple of days. The best name I can come up with is 'Bones' Kitten's Kitten'. Or how about 'here kitty kitty'. Oh, how about 'nameless'. I know…they're crap! See, no imagination. *sigh* I guess that means someone else will be winning that arc…
    Happy Weekend Mandi!

My first thought when I saw the RS cover – 'where are his dangly bits?' I had to follow the link to the real cover to get the answer to my question. LOL.

The stem sticking out of Heidi's head…I had the exact same thought! I liked the rose, but the stem? *shakes head*

    And thanks, Mandi! ((hugs))

Awesome post! I had no clue about the kitty naming contest! Thanks for the 411! Now I'm gonna delude myself to thinking I have an actual chance at winning!

Franklin, the sexy vampy psycho will definitely be missed! Damn, he was so hot! And his crazy just added to his allure! Why couldn't Tara realize that? I would have happily been his vampire bride!

Okay, I have to admit, I've never heard of this Convincing Arthur book, but m/m historical romance! Wow! Something tells me that could only be PURE WIN!

    Thanks again for the post!
