Smexy’s Top Ten–November 5th

November 5, 2010 by Mandi 25 Comments

10. My week – Hubs was in Vegas all week – I know, so unfair. I did sweat a bit because my “boyfriend” Brandon Flowers lives in Vegas. Can’t have the two of them running into each other. And hubs doesn’t act so kindly when I suggest he do a little stalking for me. Oh hubs. And yes, the hot tub is still in our driveway. I don’t even notice it anymore. Sad.

9. Cover Alert! Magic Slays by Ilona Andrews – book five in their Kate Daniels series. I….can’t….wait…for this book!!! I don’t love the cover (the big boobage doesn’t do it for me) but who cares! I just want what is inside!!! Comes out May 2011.

7. The McRib is back at McDonalds. This made front pages news this week. My brother, who has not eaten at a McDonalds for 15 years emailed me to tell me this news. What is it about the McRib that has created this frenzy? Do I need to eat one? How do they get to meat to look like little ribs in there?

6. Larissa Ione has some news/facts about her upcoming Lords of Deliverance series. She tells us although her Demonica series is over, this new series is still in the same world, so we will see some of our beloved demons in her upcoming books (even some baby news!). Eternal Rider comes out in April 2011 and I can’t wait!! Go HERE to read all the news on her blog.

5. So – hang onto your seats – I just read Archangel’s Kiss by Nalini Singh (Guild Hunter #2) I know I am super late in reading it – it was guest reviewed at Smexy and for whatever reason it slipped by me. I have to say – this book (and book one) are AMAZING! Much darker and intense than her Psy/Changeling series. Her angels are violent, lethal, and OMG SEXY. I absolutely love the world she has created….I can’t put it into words. I strongly recommend that you read this series. It is UF, with very, very sexy romance. Book three Archangel’s Consort comes out early next year – make sure you are ready for it!

4. Tori’s Friday 56.

“Did Mrs Cavendash also tell you about the inebriate doctor who suffered a great tragedy when his wife was attacked and killed by a tiger a few months ago?” “Apparently the poor woman was carried home still alive, but without a face.”

Released-October 1, 2010

How to play Friday 56.

● Grab the book nearest you. Right now

● Turn to page 56.

● Find the fifth sentence.

● Post that sentence (plus one or two others if you like) along with these instructions on your blog or (if you do not have your own blog) in the comments section of this blog.

● Postalink along with your post back to this blog.

● Don’t dig for your favorite book, the coolest, the most intellectual. Use the CLOSEST.

Happy Friday!!

3. Lisa Kleypas mentions in this interview that she is taking a break in 2011 and has nothing scheduled. Maybe this means I can catch up on her contemporaries since I have never read one (although I adore her historicals.) My girl Bells has just read the three books in the Travises series and has great reviews of them posted.

2. Have you pre-ordered your tickets yet? My First Grader is so excited he can’t stand it. We have read the first book together and he has seen all the movies so he is dying to know what happens at the end. I think JK Rowling did an amazing job with the final book and I hope the movie is just as good.

1. This weekend I am doing my reread of Darkfever by Karen Marie Moning and starting His Darkest Embrace by Julia Stone. Happy Friday!

10 – I <3 that your 'boyfriend' is Brandon Flowers!! Nice taste in men!

9 – I cannot wait for this book! Counting down the days!! Also, yes, what is up with the enormace boobs?

8 – I'm so glad to find someone who knows him from GG! I loved him as Dean!! Also, he's SUPER tall in real life, everytime I walked passed him I had to do a double take of his height! (I work for a convention comapny)

7 – WTH is a McRib? We don't have them in Australia, they look a little strange!

5 – Such a great book! My friend leant me the books and told me that I HAD to read them, so glad she did!

ew ew ewwww!!! McRib FREAKS ME OUT!!!!

Also – I am SO SO HAPPY you finally got to read the Archangel series!! I love how dark it is. Did you say that you heard Dmitri is getting his own book???

Someone in the art department really doesn't like Ilona Andrews – the covers to that Kate Daniels series is consistently TERRIBLE!! But it's the BEST SERIES!!!

    Have a good weekend Mandicakes!

Blodeuedd – Yeah..disappointed in that cover.

Tori – Bells sent me the Supernatural DVD and I couldn't find the time to watch..I suck, I know! ;p

PH – LOL..I was actually calling him Dean because of Gilmore Girls..I had no idea another character on the show is called Dean! I will have to go back to clarify.

Natalie – Yay for BFlow! LOL. And omg…so lucky you got to walk past Padelecki!!! I'm jealous. ;)

Pamela – OMG…definite favorite series of mine. I am pretty sure that Singh said eventually some of the other characters will get a book…but don't quote me!

That's some serious gravity-defying boobage on that cover. :-O

I love the HP books, but I stopped watching the movies after the 4th one. The movies just are SO not the same as the books – left out so many good parts and it got frustrating to keep yelling 'that's not how it was in the book' while watching the movies. lol

    Hi Mandy…
So, you let your hubs go to Las Vegas alone for an entire week? Have you seen The Hangover? LOL
I love love love Nalini's new series, I just hope she writes books for The Seven.
The Supernatural boys… I know just the thing to convince you to watch the series (there are rumors that the boys are.. you know…. not just friends… Ok, it may be just gossip but that's enough to make some great M/M fantasies right?)
    Have a nice weekend.

I haven't seen Supernatural either (I also never saw Gilmore Girls). I need to get a TV life…

I do like the McRib but don't think it deserves front page coverage :)

Whole family is going to see Harry Potter – in costume! (Just kidding) Seriously though, I can't wait!

9 – What is up with the boobs? Are they getting bigger the more powerful Kate gets?

5 – I love the Archangel series. However, didn't you find the "you can't handle me yet sexually" stuff a bit annoying? I still loved it, but I'm just saying….

    Happy weekend!

#3 – NOOOOOOO! I love Lisa Kleypas! I hope the writes *dozens* of books while she's away!

#9 – I want it! My precious, my PRECIOUS! Serious boobage going on, but I'm like you – I just want to read about Kate & Curran being loved-up (ditto goes for 'River Marked' and Mercy + Adam!)

I've just discovered your blog and love it.

I think I would try the ribs burger at least once just to see what all the fuss is about and then I'd either like it or pass, that said, haven't been to a McDonalds in over 6 months.

WRT Magic Slays, it's nice to have a more well endowed heroine, but…they do seem rather large :)

Oh, I can't wait to read Dark Road to Darjeeling!

Mandi I have one word for you WRT Archangel's Consort: Dmitri! *grin*

I'm with you on the Magic Slays cover – just doesn't have the same feel as the other books – probably the boobage.

    I too haven't seen Supernatural – it's okay!

I want to see HP so much, but since I'm the only one in my family and such that will see it – well, I'm guessing I'll be seeing it after a couple weeks. *sigh*

Whilst I accept Ms Kleypas right to have a break, my immediate reaction to the fact that there is not going to be any new Kleypas novels out next year is Nooooooo. My secondary reaction is why on earth are they releasing the first book in a series late this year when they know full well that there is going to be such a long gap until the next one.

    Loved that Deanna Raybourn book!

    Great Top Ten!

Can't believe you're still leaving your poor hot tub out there! Bet it ends up holding lots of snow for the kids come winter!

You know how people are alcoholics and such well maybe they should come up with a phrase just for you being a Brandonaholic?
