News from Mandi: I started the week with Blood and Bullets by James R. Tuck. I believe this is his urban fantasy debut. Overall, it is a pretty good book. A little slow in places, but I enjoyed the male POV. Review coming soon. Then I moved onto one of the few sci-fi books I read, Chain Reaction by Zoe Archer. I didn’t like this one as much as the first book in this series. Review link above. I read Ruthie Knox’s debut, Ride With Me and it is super cute! An anti-social hero and a control freak heroine cycle across the country together. Super sexy too. Review coming next month. I read about 3/4 of Miss Hillary School’s a Scoundrel and couldn’t make it to the end. I am going to tell you why closer to the release date. I got a sneak peak of About That Night by Julie James. It is super good!!! Seriously, if you are not reading Julie James, you NEED TO START. Especially with her previous, A Lot Like Love so you are totally ready for Kyle’s book. Right now I am reading Sweet Enemy by Heather Snow and the m/m Hold the Sky by AC Fox. Will report on those next week.
News From Helyce: This was a slow reading week for me. Sometimes real life gets in the way! I broke my Twitter cherry this week. Yes, I have finally joined the ranks of all you Twitter-ettes and very much enjoyed the back and forth that goes on there, all day, when I should be doing laundry or something equally important. Thank you to Mandi for the push to join and thank you to Nicole for showing me what and how to DM on Twitter! As for reading, I enjoyed a very nice re-read of Collision Course by K.A. Mitchell. I wasn’t ready to move out of her world quite yet, so I had to have a little bit of Joey time! I read the new release by Marie Sexton called Blind Space. It was pretty good; completely different and a definite departure from her usual work. I really enjoyed the SciFi aspect and the romance was exactly what we expect from Marie. There are tattoo’d, pierced, eyeliner wearing space pirates in this one…heh heh…good stuff. For review, I read Twisted Up by Lissa Matthews. I had a hard time with this one as I never really believed in the relationship between the H/H. Full review to come soon. I also read Rocky Mountain Desire (book 3 in the Six Pack Ranch series) by Vivian Arend. I am really enjoying this series and loved this installment. Great couple, interesting conflict, much smexy-time. I am working on my review of Darker After Midnight by Lara Adrian and all I can say is WOW! If you are a fan The Midnight Breed series, this book will blow you away. Lastly, I’m about 70% through By The Book by Scarlett Parrish. I’ve had this on my TBR list since Mandi reviewed ages ago. I’m enjoying this author’s voice very much. And well, it’s Daniel fucking Cross…need I say more?

News from May: On a plane home from Maui I read Princess Charming by Nicole Jordan. A review will be coming soon here at smexy. For now I will just say its cute- in an unbelievable fairy tale way. Not terribly deep or satisfying but fun never the less.
I need some kindle reading suggestions for my work trip in a few weeks when I don’t want to bring books (space limitations). Anybody? I’ve loaded some Suzanne Enoch back-list and am feeling like I need something gritty and dark too. It’s good to be home and back to texting Mandi about epic man bits and naughty things. Off to finish my week by writing some reviews!
News From Tori: Oh NetGalley…your so evil! Netgalley, for those who don’t know, is an booksite where bloggers, librarians, etc…are able to get review books in ebook form. It’s crack for readers. I went there last night and in 2 minutes requested and received 6 books. *sigh* So coming soon to review will be Amanda Steven’s The Kingdom, Aimee Carter’s Goddess Interrupted, Cara Schultz’s Spellcaster, and Lydia Dare’s Wolf Who Loved Me. I also received Darynda Jone’s Third Grave Dead Ahead. SQUUEEEE!!! RHYES!!!! I’m sad to say I DNF’d Marjorie M. Liu’s The Mortal Bone. First off let me say I LOVE HER VERY MUCH! Her Dirk & Steele novels are auto buys for me. I’ve enjoyed the Hunter Kiss novels immensely but I think my time with dark heroines who can never seem to catch a break and end up having to spend entire book fighting for their lives and saving the world is coming to an end. I need faster reads with more humor these days. Just finished True Shot by Joyce Lamb. The 3rd book in her True Trilogy; these edgy romantic suspense are fab. This one was by far my favorite as the hero and heroine are perfectly balanced and the story packs plenty of action and intrigue into it’s plot. I’ve decided to start reading Julie James as I have heard from everyone that she rocks the romance. I have her first 2 and plan to start when I get my review schedule under control. For those who always wanted to know what happens after the fairytales ends, then run and get Nadia Lee’s A Happily Ever After Of Her Own. A sweet and funny story about a preschool teacher who can travel to HEA and ends up getting arrested for making Beauty (of Beauty and the Beast) disappear. Totally loved.
Be sure to share your news too!

You got a sneak peek of About That Night? *dies* I can’t wait to read it! Julie James is one of the best contemporary romance authors out there, IMHO, and she can write comedy and suspense equally well, although I much prefer the comedies. That scene with the huge penis (it was a picture, don’t panic) in Practice Makes Perfect makes me laugh like a maniac every time I think about it :)

I. AM. JEALOUS! I want Julie James’ About Last Night, so bad! Can’t wait to read what you both thought of it.
Karen says
Add me to the jealous crowd! Julie James is my absolute favorite author.

Wow, you have already read Lothaire! Not reading the review until after I have read it myself! Sorry about the Marjorie M. Liu books, but I agree, sometimes those heroines truly deserve something good.

I just finished Lothaire! DIES It was amazing!!!
