Smexy’s Top Ten
News From Mandi: I got a sneak peek at Fair Game by Patricia Briggs. So good. This is the third book in her Alpha and & Omega series. A little more emphasis on romance in this one, but still set in the same world as her Mercy Thompson books. I highly recommend this series! Cry Wolf is officially book one, but for this series I recommend starting with the “.5” novella in the On the Prowl Anthology – which sets up the story perfectly. Next I read Her Husband’s Harlot by Grace Callaway. Self published and I think her debut, I loved the blurb and title for this one. For the most part, I enjoyed it. Review to come soon. On my quest to read more self published work, I also read Pixie Dust by Laura Lee. Again, the blurb drew me into this one. I have complicated thoughts which I’ll explain in my review. I liked this one but also had some problems. Review to come for this one soon too. I did not finish Circle of Desire by Carla Swafford – you can read why here. As I wrote in my Top Ten, I read Dirty by Megan Hart which I loved and adored and Fallen From Grace by Laura Leone which I also enjoyed. I’m currently reading The Merzetti Effect by Norah Wilson –I’ve liked the first few chapters of this one.
News from Helyce: What a week! My son turned 16 on Tuesday! I can’t believe it! Those of you with little ones-cherish that time. For some reason, once they hit middle school, the years truly fly by. I finished up Fury by Laurann Dohner. In spite of some rather obvious similarities to another series I read, where scientists have spliced human and animal DNA in an attempt to create a hybrid race, I did enjoy it. I’m very interested in one of the other characters who had a secondary role. He was sexy and had a snarky sense of humor-so I definitely want to read his book! Next I finished up The Last Night by Nico Rosso. I was worried about this one as I began. Post-apocalyptic earth stories are not really my thing, but I kept at it and I’m so glad I did. I really like the authors writing style in this story. Review up next week sometime. For fun, I read the first three books in Mary Calmes Warder Series- His Hearth, Tooth & Nail and Heart in Hand. An m/m paranormal romance, these stories center around a Sentinel and his 5 Warders who fight all forms of demon kind to keep humans safe. Each book focuses on one Warder finding his hearth-that one human he can be with that will give him a reason to live-to make what he does worthwhile. I really enjoyed these and look forward to reading the rest in the series. I am about 1/3 of the way through A Devil Named Desire by Terri Garey. It’s really good so far-and I’m anxious to see just how the Devil is going to make the Archangel Gabriel fall in love with a human woman. Review for this will be up later this month. Next up, Redwood Bend by Robyn Carr. Can. Not. Wait. Ms. Carr’s Virgin River series is one of my favorite contemporary romance series! I love visiting Virgin River! Lastly, if I can find my copy of Stranger by Megan Hart, I hope to do a re-read while Mandi reads it for the first time next week. I have it really bad for Jack. I’m not afraid to admit it! :) Enjoy your weekend!

I happened to get Tooth & Nail at a kindle sale-either free or .99 or 1.99 something like that. Anyway, I happened to open it up and just read it right through. Then I realized it was book 2 and had to get book 1-of course and then book 3. I can’t wait to read the rest. It’s a premise we’ve seen in other pnr romances with the whole “protecting the humans” bit-but I like this authors voice. And in Tooth & Nail-the character of Dylan was kind of a twink-reminded me of Joey from Collision Course a little bit. Anyway-let me know what you think!
