Ummm…it’s just me today, folks. Everyone left me. LEFT ME I TELL YOU. *sobbing madly*
Tori’s News: I got sucked into a Kristen Ashley re read since she will be one of the authors at Book Bash this Saturday. I’m so ready!! I even got a t shirt for all the authors to sign. I will wear it everyday until it falls from my body in stinky rags ‘cause that’s how I roll.
I read all three of Skye Warren’s Beauty serials. I enjoyed them. Erin and Brody are wonderfully drawn characters. Ms. Warren does a great job of imparting a full bodied story into such a small time frame. Lovely emotional connections and some seriously hot smexy times. The fourth and final book releases July 8th.
Claire Kent’s Breaking picks up 3 years after Escorted. An interlude into Ander and Lori’s life as Ander tries to deal with a some traumatic news. LOTS of smexytimes though I was bemused that after 3 years he didn’t have a closer emotional connection with Lori. Hey, it’s only $.99 on Amazon right now.
Bent by HB Heinzer is a romantic contemporary about a woman who comes home and has to deal with her high school sweetheart who broke her heart. An emotional story that I would have enjoyed better without the judgy heroine who kept running away every time things didn’t go her way and seemed to have a communication problem. Seriously, who holds a grudge for 12 years?
Darynda Jones’s Fifth Grave Past The Light kept me in stitches. A seriously funny urban fantasy that offers laughs, chills, smexytimes, and a healthy dose of suspense and intrigue to keep you guessing till the end. If your not reading this series…you need to get on it PRONTO. Review to come.
Jane from Dear Author tweeted about Bully by Penelope Douglas and as it was free, I jumped right on it. A fantastic NA that addresses bullying from the victim’s POV and the steps she takes to go from victim to victor. There are some situations I wish hadn’t been sweep aside, but all in all I like Douglas’s voice and look forward to reading more from her. I will add it’s no longer free but it’s still pretty cheap at $1.99 for the kindle version.
L.H. Cosway’s The Nature Of Cruelty is another bully book that tells the story of a young woman who has a love hate relationship with her bff’s twin brother. A bit long in it’s telling, the romance gets plenty of stage time but I would have enjoyed more antagonistic behavior between the h/h considering their history. Robert’s reasons were a poor excuse for his past behavior and Lana’s passive aggressive behavior towards end came out of nowhere.
This weekend I will be finishing Enthralled and starting something else.
