Guest Author Megan Hart and Giveaway

March 4, 2014 by Mandi 24 Comments

Megan Hart is visiting Smexy to talk about her new serial. Part three releases today….

Piece by Piece or All At Once?
Megan Hart

Serial stories have been around for a long time. Charles Dickens published many of his works in serial format. Early radio shows took up the style, as well as soap operas. More recently, the growing popularity of digital publishing has seen the serial make a comeback – to the delight of some, dismay of others.

Serial stories can work wonderfully for readers of different tastes. For those who enjoy nibbling, a shorter piece can tantalize and tease them through several weeks of delicious anticipation. For the ones who don’t want to read anything that’s not finished, waiting for the serial to be completely released allows them to gorge and indulge to their heart’s desire! Every Part of You, my five part erotic romance, is meant to be read by nibblers or gobblers alike. Each part tells a bit more of the story while moving the overall plot forward.

Simone and Elliott are strangers with more in common than either of them believes. With her penchant for pain but not submission, Simone’s a woman who knows what she likes and craves, and isn’t ashamed to admit it. Elliott, on the other hand, is far more closed off in his desires. But both of them enjoy the dynamic of pain versus pleasure – even if he won’t own up to it.

With the story divided into five pieces, we get to journey along with Simone and Elliott as they meet, recognize their attraction to either other, act on it, deny it, and finally, accept it. So whether you like to draw out the suspense and tease yourself or practice patience until you can consume the whole story, I hope you give Simone and Elliott’s romance a try!

Elliott made a mistake in pushing Simone away, but is it too late for him to pull her close again? Admitting to Simone that he really likes her is a big step for Elliott, but before they can move on with this new relationship, there are some things they need to get straight. Amused by his “guidelines,” Simone is willing to try to understand Elliott’s point of view, so long as he gives her what she wants, too. Everything seems to be moving along until a misunderstanding about Simone’s relationship with an ex lover forces them to face their real feelings for each other.

Excerpt from Every Part of You: Taunts Me (#3)

When he pinned her hands above her head, grinding the bones of her wrists in his big hands, Simone cried out his name. He growled again at the sound of it. Her hips lifted. His hands slid behind her, finding the zipper of her dress with unerring ease.

She was bared to him in seconds, having gone without a bra for the strapless dress, her lace panties stripped away as easily as the dress had been. Elliott pushed her knees apart and moved between them. His fingers traced her labia, then spread her open there, too.

Simone arched, head tossing on his pillows. She gripped the sheets. She urged him on with her body and wordless, desperate moans. He didn’t put his mouth on her. He blew a puff of air over her swollen pussy, and it teased her clit until she gasped out a plea.

He laughed and pushed up on his knees to look down at her. He loosened his tie an inch at a time and tossed it aside. Then the buttons on his shirt, revealing his chest. He shrugged out of the shirt while she watched, but he didn’t throw it on the floor. He folded it neatly and set it carefully on the bed without ever once looking away from her eyes.

Simone groaned. "You’re killing me."

"You’re impatient."

"Is patience one of your guidelines?"

"Yes." His hand went to his belt, opening the buckle. To the button beneath. The zipper.

She licked her lips, pushing up on her elbows to stare at him. "I want to see you."

He didn’t push his pants down. He ran his hand up the inside of her thigh instead, nails lightly scratching. "Patience."

With a groan that was of pleasure only because denial was a kind of torturous pleasure, Simone fell back on the bed. She put her hands on his headboard, gripping the spindles. She opened her legs.

Elliott covered her with his body, mouth feasting on hers while his hand slid between her legs. "Tell me about the pain."

Simone paused, but only for a second before she was opening her mouth to him again. She tilted her hips to urge his fingers inside her, but he didn’t push inside her. "I like it."

"Why?"

"I don’t know. I just know that I–" She cried out when he pinched her inner thigh, not hard enough to bruise but still with a deliberation that spiraled arousal all through her.

He did it again, finding the most tender part of her and twisting the flesh between his thumb and forefinger. It only lasted a second or two, barely long enough to hurt at all, but it felt so fucking good her hips bucked. She writhed.

"Tell me about it," Elliott said into her ear before biting her earlobe.

"It’s all tied together. Pleasure. Pain. I like it when it hurts because . . . it just . . . feels . . . better . . ." She laughed. "I can’t talk when you’re doing that with your hand."

"Do you want me to stop?"

"No." She turned a little to look at him. She put her hand on his face. This close she could count the individual hairs in his brows, the faint lines at the corners of his eyes. "I don’t want you to stop, Elliott."

Definately a gobbler! I like to read my stories all at once. Otherwise I tend to lose the thread if the interval between is too long.

I definitely thought I was a gobbler, but I loved getting to read Ilona Andrews’ Clean Sweep and Ruthie Knox’s Truly in serial form. I would have loved those stories if I’d “gobbled” them up in one sitting too, but it was such a highlight of my day to get each new installment.

I do think that I’m only willing to nibble if I know and trust the author, though… having to wait longer for the ending means that I have longer to build up expectations, and I’m a lot more bitter about having those dashed if I’ve been looking forward to the conclusions of the story for months instead of hours!

Hi Megan! I’m a long time fan (first book of yours I read was Precious and Fragile Things). This will be my first try of a serial story and I’m really excited you’ve done this. Pretty sure I’ll be gobbling it up. Good luck and you rock! :)

Oh… I’m a gobbler for sure :) I enjoy serials but I’m not patient enough to read parts and wait. So I tend to wait and get them all so I can indulge all together! I do the same with some series if I can. Thanks for sharing!

Gobbler all the way! I love Megan Hart and got to spend a good amount of time chit chatting with her at a book-signing a few years back. She’s an awesome author!

Gobbler or Nibbler, depends. I seem to gobble Megan Hart’s books, I counted five on my Nook, and one on my Kindle.

Gobbler! I like the characters to stay fresh in my head. Plus with some serial books, a fair amount of time is spent rehashing the past story, to ‘fill in the blanks’.

Man, when it comes to series like this one you have to accept the challenge and be a nibbler! Whether you like it or not!
