Smexy’s Top Ten

News From Mandi: Falling for the Pirate by Amber Lin was good although I had a little bit of trouble with how the romance unfolds. The heroine at first feels she needs to repay the hero for all that he has done by her, and all she has is her body. The actual falling in love part needed to be more out in the open in my opinion. What is it about the hero and heroine that made them fall for each other? But otherwise I liked this one. Review coming.

Magic Breaks by Ilona Andrews is just a great book. Big things happen. Tons of action. Romance. I laughed a lot. I adore these characters and this world. For as violent it is (and oh man is there one particular scene) I usually end up with a goofy smile on my face and Kate chops a person in half. LOL. Man I love her. This book changes some things and resolves some things…can’t wait to see where it all goes in the next book. Tori and I will be joint reviewing it closer to release day but look for a promo/giveaway post this coming week…

I read the first chapter of Looking for Trouble by Victoria Dahl. So far so good..I’ll report back. Also coming up this week for me is Lay it Down by Cara McKenna and You Own Me by Shiloh Walker– hero is a convict…*Mandi gets good shivers* – I’ll report back next week.

News from Tori: I have a headache (sinuses=OMG THE PAINNNNNNNNN) so I’m doing a super duper quick wrap up of what I have read this week.

Lead by Kylie Scott. Hilarious. Simply hilarious. Review to come.

Reaper’s Stand by Joanna Wylde. Outstanding. Review will post in Oct issue of RT Book Reviews Magazine.

Magic Breaks by Ilona Andrews. ZOMG. Seriously Z.O.M.G. Review to come.

Burn for Me by Ilona Andrews. Again…ZOMG. I inhaled it. Review to come.

The Hot Zone by Jayne Castle. It has dust bunnies. Need I say more? Review to come.

Between the Sheets by Molly O’Keefe. Deceptive title and cover reveals an emotionally plum love story. Review to come.

In Your Dreams by Kristan Higgins. This series continues to entertain and delight. Review to come.

Susan Fanetti’s Show the Fire and All the Sky. Jaysus. Make sure you have plenty of tissues, alcohol, and maybe a Valium or two because these two books will break you. I bawled hard.

Too Good To Be True by Kristan Higgins. Enjoyable though had some issues with heroine and her family.

Asher by Jo Raven. Predictable with a heavy YA feel to it.

Into the Shadows by Carolyn Crane. A sexy messed up hero, a heroine who loves him, and a gang war makes this book a winner. Read it NOW!

Currently reading The Shotgun Arcana by R.S. Belcher and then on to Heroes are my Weakness by SEP.

What cracks me up is that my grandmother’s maiden name is Crane.. and her name is Carolyn. Is my nearly 90 year old grandmother writing a gang war romance series? I think she will probably get a kick out of that :)

So Reaper’s Stand is outstanding? I’ve been eagerly awaiting Picnic’s book, and was a little disappointed at the end of Devils Game when they pulled this chick out of nowhere. Glad at least she isn’t some 20 year old.
