Top Ten Reasons to Read One Night of Scandal by Elle Kennedy

September 8, 2014 by Mandi 8 Comments

I’m enjoying the heck out of this One Night series by Elle Kennedy. This is book two, you can read my review of book one here. You can read them as stand alones, but since they are each $.99, it’s a great price to gobble them up.  They follow three friends that own a night club (all former MMA fighers). Reed and Darcy have a very fun dynamic in this book – Reed has been lusting after Darcy for some time, but she was dating his friend AJ (who gets book three), so he kept his distance – but then Darcy and AJ break up. And Darcy and Reed can’t keep their hands off each other. But Reed is known for being a big player, so Darcy wants their hot sex to just stay hot sex, and not a relationship. Darcy is very sexually confident which I loved. Reed is alpha and growly and all things sexy.

Enough blabbing. My top ten reasons why you should read One Night of Scandal by Elle Kennedy:

10. Let’s get a good picture of Reed…

Reed Miller was a bad boy to the core—oh, she’d heard plenty of stories about him from AJ. Apparently the guy possessed an anything-goes attitude when it came to sex. He also smoked cigarettes, cursed like a sailor, and drove way too fast in that black Camaro of his.

Sure, he was a business owner, too. And he had his own house, so she imagined he must be somewhat responsible since he was able to pay the bills. But she was leery of men like Reed, with their unpredictable nature and innate arrogance and those seductive grins that made a woman forget all the reasons why she shouldn’t get involved with him.

9. But Darcy likes to make sure he isn’t too much of a bad boy…

“Fine.” She sighed dramatically. “I forgive you, Reedford.”

He made a rumbling sound.“Why do you always call me that? I’m not an English prince.”

Darcy laughed. “It makes you sound like you have manners. I like you better that way.” She reached into her purse and rummaged around for her tiny can of mace.“Okay, now that everything is all sunshine and rainbows between us, I can go home and not have to lie awake all night plotting your death.”

8. Even though Darcy and AJ broke up, Reed and Darcy are still scared of hurting him. But then this happens.

“You’re right,” she stammered. “You shouldn’t say it.”

“I shouldn’t.” Yet even as he voiced his agreement, his hand had risen to her face, his thumb delicately sweeping over her bottom lip. Her breath hitched. God. Her entire world had reduced to this one moment, this one man. Her lips were actually trembling from the crazy urge to kiss him.

“Fuck.” The expletive tore out of Reed’s throat, his frustration thick between them. “I want you, Darcy. I. Fucking. Want. You.” Shock slammed into her, along with a burst of arousal that seized her to the core.

7. Reed gets so excited he comes in his pants. S’okay Reed – it happens to the best of us.

“It’s fine,” he said roughly. “I really should go.”

She paused, and then her voice went dry. “So that’s it? Are we really not going to acknowledge the fact that we orgasmed together in a room the size of a closet?”

A burst of laughter flew out. “That’s a nice way of phrasing it.”

“How would you describe it?”

His gaze locked with hers. “I came in my pants dry humping you against a wall with my tongue down your throat.”

6. #SelfishBastard #TinglePeen

“Because I’m a selfish bastard. Damn it, Darcy, when a woman tells me I’m getting her hot, it just makes me want to prove how much hotter I can get her.”

She moaned.

The goddamn temptress actually moaned, and the throaty sound sizzled into him and tingled in the tip of his cock. He was so hard he could barely breathe, and he wanted to shout at her to stop eyeing him like she was an addict and he was her fix.

5. He redeems sex in a closet and coming in his pants with a nice slow session…

Goose bumps broke out on her skin when he fisted his cock and rubbed the tip of it over her folds.

“I’m going to fuck you nice and slow,” he rasped. I’m going to make every second count, so neither one of us ever forgets how good it is.”

4.  A glimpse into our HEA…a HEA with this dick, not his heart – but that’s okay for now.

The first sight of his cock made her moan. It was long and hard and massively thick, a clear drop of arousal pooling at his engorged head. As her heart pounded like a jackhammer, she curled his fingers around his shaft and stroked him with her fist, eliciting a husky noise from his throat.

“I think I’m in love with your dick,” she announced.

3. Oh the angst…

“I’m addicted to you,” he hissed into her lips. His hands slipped down to cup her ass, squeezing hard enough to make her gasp. “Tell me to go, damn it.”

“I can’t.” She heard the helpless note in her voice. “I want you too much.” She grabbed the back of his head to bring his mouth down to hers again. She wasn’t usually so aggressive, but something about Reed unleashed this desperate, starved side of her.

2. Moooooooooo

Reed felt like he’d been poked with a cattle prod the second Darcy’s lips enclosed on his cock. His lower body jerked upward. The sensation of her hot mouth surrounding him was so intense he struggled not to prematurely blow his load and end things before they even got good.

1. Darcy should always, be a bad, bad girl…

“Next time I say wait here, you’d better goddamn listen.” His voice was tinged with danger.

“Yeah, and what if I don’t want to listen?” Darcy shot back.

He pushed her jeans down her hips, then freed one silky leg from the denim. Her black bikini panties were so skimpy they barely covered her mound, and his mouth filled with saliva as he stared at her creamy thighs.

“Then that would make you a bad girl, wouldn’t it? And do you want to know what I do to bad girls?” Reed dragged his own zipper down, the tick-tick-tick of metallic teeth being released echoing in the car. “I fuck them. I fuck them hard.”

“Oh God.”
