Top Ten Reasons to read One Night of Scandal by Elle Kennedy
Your New Must Read Series: The Ivy Years by Sarina Bowen
Smexy’s Top Ten – September 12

News from Mandi: I was disappointed in Losing Streak by Kristine Wyllys. Was starts as a darker contemporary featuring two pretty hard-up, gritty and tough protagonists, took a weird turn and the romance did not develop at all. Total bummer as I enjoyed book one. Review to come.

I loved A Forbidden Rumspring by Keira Andrews. You can read my review above.

I DNF’d His Kind of Perfect by Kinsley Gibb – just couldn’t get into it.

I’m currently reading and enjoying An American Duchess by Sharon Page. This is the first I’ve read by her and I’m liking her voice. 1920’s – the heroine is a rich New Yorker who heads to London to marry a titled gentleman in need of money. She actually ends up with the brother, and he is a duke, scarred from the war. I like him. A lot. Oh! And the heroine is very blunt and she is a pilot among other things.  I’m about 100 pages in.

News from Tori: Not much going on here. It’s still hot. It’s still muggy. It’s still boring.

Heir of Fire by Sarah J. Maasis one of my favorite books of 2014. Set up loosely along the same lines at George RR Martin’s A Game of Thrones, Maas has created an action packed, intriguing, and deadly fantasy series revolving around an assassin turned King’s Champion. Review here.

Worth The Fall by Claudia Conner is a swoony romance between a Navy Seal and a widow with not only 4 young children but pregnant with her fifth. A slow burn romance builds as our h/H try to deal with the strong chemistry that ignites between them. Realistic and heartbreaking at times, Worth The Fall is worth the read. Review to come.

Broken Soul by Faith Hunter blew me away. This series actually started to stagnate a little but we saw a change in Jane’s attitude with Black Arts and that gave me hope. Arc expansion, romance evolution, and some much needed personal growth on our heroine’s part balances well with a convoluted storyline that packs extreme action and mayhem into a small neat package. Jane is FINALLY pushing back with a vengeance I was extremely happy to see this turn of events. I’m looking forward to the next book in the series. Review to come.

I picked up Rachel Van Dyke’s Bang Bang which is a novella within her Elite Eagles series. NA mobsters are my crack so I couldn’t resist. I haven’t read that series but I did enjoy the novella. Only $.99 on AMZ right now.

Jen Frederick’s Taking Control is the second book in her Kerr Chronicles and wraps up the storyline from the hero’s POV. LOTS of steamy sex and dirty talk made for an enjoyable read. Review to come.

Night Shift Anthology by Ilona Andrews, Nalini Singh, Lisa Shearin, and Milla Vane. Four well developed novellas mix love, magic, and humor to create engaging must reads. Fans will be happy to know Andrews visits with Jim and Dali while Singh gives us Bastien’s story. I enjoyed  all four immensely and look forward to more full length novels from these talented authors. Review to come.

I’m currently reading Offside by Shay Savage and then on to Larissa Ione’s Chained by Night.

I think I am about to DNF His Kind of Perfect. I’m not very far in, but I’m not feeling it. It’s hard to get in to. I feel like I’m missing something in it. I might try to read a little more of it, but I’m not feeling hopeful.
