Smexy’s Top Ten
News from Mandi: Real life has gotten in the way of reading this past week but I did squeeze in two books.
Alex by Sawyer Bennett was good – hero is super grumpy, jerky, asshole hockey player. (he has his reasons! trust me). Heroine works in an outreach program for drugs and alcohol and the two are paired up to produce a campaign aimed at kids. The hero isn’t too happy about this, but the heroine doesn’t take his whiny attitude. It’s fun. First half stronger than the second but overall a nice start to a new hockey series. Lots of hockey action too. Review coming.
Owned by Fate by Tessa Bailey starts her new BDSM series. This was not a favorite of mine. Felt very predictable in its bdsm. Didn’t really love either the hero or heroine. Still had some fun dirty talk but otherwise didn’t love it. Review coming.
News From Tori: I did a complete re read of Ilona Andrew’s Kate Daniels series this week because I needed something epic and comforting. To say I’m ready for the next book is an understatement.
Samantha Young’s Echos Of Scotland Street was a bit disappointing. Too much angst, unnecessary drama, and an unlikable heroine made this a tedious read at times. Review to come.
A Place Called Harmony by Jodi Thomas is the prequel to Thomas’s Harmony series. A sweet, funny, heartfelt story that introduces us to the founding families of Harmony and how the town originated. Review to come.
Jill Sorenson’s Riding Dirty was certainly that and then some. Set in the violent world of 1 percenters, Sorenson builds a compelling romance suspense between a woman bent on revenge and the ex con she chooses to manipulate into helping her.
Son of No One by Sherrilyn Kenyon reminded me a lot of her earlier works. A cursed hero you just want to bundle up and take home with you, a sweet quirky take charge heroine whose blood lines are cause for concern, and a predictable action packed and humorous storyline made this a fast comfortable read. My only qualm is that that the arc is getting extremely crowd with over reaching plotlines and characters and I’m starting to get confused.
Merciless Ride by Chelsea Cameron is the third book in her Hellion Ride series and takes a much different tone than her first two. Calmer and more somber rboth in storyline and characterization, this story is extremely focuses on the two protagonists and their romance. I enjoyed the lack of drama and emo hijinks that fueled the first two. Review to come.
As Long As You Love Me is the second book in Ann Aguirre’s 2B trilogy. A sweet heartfelt best friend’s brother romance that deals with expectations and learning to love oneself. I enjoyed it more than the first book in that Aguirre beings in the emotional connection and character development I felt was missing in the first one. Review to come.
Up this weekend is At Death’s Door by Astrid V. Tallaksen and Fallon Fourth Down by Tijan.

I had a great reading week thanks to you ladies. I won Harder by Robin York in a Take my Books give away.
So I finally read Deeper, sitting in my tbr forever, and loved it. It was so good and I adored the characters.
Now half way through Harder and enjoying it so much.

As I saw Iced had FINALLY been released on Kindle UK I downloaded that (TBR), then as I had never read them I downloaded Highlander #4. This I did read, swiftly followed by Highlander #5 and now I have downloaded Highlander #6 and put #7 on my Wish List. Help!! Overload of impossibly tall, ripped and beautiful Scottish Warriors ….. ;)
