News from Mandi: A Gentleman on the Street by Alisha Rai is a fab book. It’s sooooo hot and sexy, with a great romance and a very strong heroine. I really enjoyed it – posting a review this week.
Miles from Kara by Melissa West didn’t quite do it for me. A new adult, the heroine falls for her current boyfriend’s roommate. There is a lot of does he like me? Do I really like him? I felt it was written for a younger audience. Also never got to really know the hero. Review coming.
Semi-Charmed by Isabel Jordan is a light-hearted paranormal romance. It has a super sexy hero and a sarcastic heroine, both worked for me but the story felt rushed. And the suspense/villain was a let down. But this had potential…maybe I’ll try book two if there is one. Review coming.
Is that all I read this week? I guess the darn holidays interfered *wink* Up next I have Caged by K Pars…I believe it is a MMA book…we shall see.
News For Tori: Happy two days late Thanksgiving Day!! Hope everyone had muy fun and lots of goodies to eat. Can you believe there is only 25 days till Christmas. *sob* I have only ⅓ of gifts bought and still no decorations up. *SOB*
Gunpowder Alchemy by Jeannie Lin. Lin does a fabulous job of bringing Imperial China and the Boxer Rebellion to life using a young woman who is forced to help her father’s executioners in order to restore honor to her family’s name. Lush world building and intriguing characters offer a glimpse into a fascinating era. Review to come.
Return to Clan Sinclair by Karen Ramsey is a short historical romance novella with a hint of suspense. A widow escapes her deceased husband’s overprotective brothers by escaping to her brother’s home in Scotland. A chance meeting with an American detective opens up long buried emotions and passions. Fabulous chemistry and dry witty banter between hero and heroine. Review to come.
A Gentleman In the Street by Alisha Rai is a bittersweet and delightfully erotic love story that pits a strong unapologetic woman against a man who is ashamed of his desires for her. Laughter, lust, angst, grief, and some extremely dirty and hot sex balance well with the poignant and heartfelt storyline. Review will appear in March issue of RT Magazine.
House of Payne by Stacy Gail-Enjoyed over all. Believable chemistry between MCs. Nicely developed sexy romance; hero is VERY sexy and has a filthy mouth.
Til Death by Bella Jewel. Marriage of convenience goes horribly wrong when the anti hero, who is an alpha jerk-abet a sexy one, falls in love with his “convenience.” I waited FOR EVAH for this book to release and I liked it BUT I didn’t realize it was a duology and that the first book was all set up for the conflict that will appear in book two. Regardless, I will be buying book two because I must know what happens.
Where There’s A Will There’s A Way by Stacy Gail. Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned is the trope of this second chance romance that addresses love, hate, and misconceptions. I enjoyed the heroine so much. She had moxie. Review to come.
David’s Selfie by Daisy Harris. A sweet M/M that brings together a widowed single dad and a go go dancer. Cute and sexy, I did feel the ending was rushed and didn’t allow us to see the the heroes actually fall in love.
Up this weekend is Serenading Stanley.
News from Sheena: Happy Holidays! I survived dinner with my in laws *cue shit eating grin*
Tori says
Sheena-OMG Til Death had me all muppet flailing. lol I wanted REVENGE and some taco kicking. I loved Marcus in Anguish but in here he was a douche. Of course, I will be reading book two if only to see heroine go off the chain. lol
Sheena says
OMG! Tori, I could not believe Marcus was so horrible! I expected some resistance and no-you-can’t-have-my-heart kind of hero but he not only took the cake, her ate it and smashed it in my face and squished the icing in my damn eyes! I almost stopped midway and asked Jewell WTF was up with her hero. I didn’t root for them as a couple. I am all for heroine’s revenge and I hope Jewel does our girl right and not let her blow steam for a couple of chapters in part 2- only to fall to his arms by page 47.
cue more arm flails!
Tori says
Oh, if she only holds on to the anger for a few chapters I will be cheesed off. I need to see some Jerry Springer action going on.
Erin joyce says
I too did not know Til’ Death was two part story. I really really hate when authors don’t share that info up front. I feel like they are pulling a bait and switch.
aurian says
All new names for me ladies, but I am glad you enjoyed them for the most part.
Alesa says
I have not read anything over the last few days as I have discovered Ty and Zane on Audio. All I can say is I have fallen in love all over again. Swoon..
PS I think the title of the last book on this post must be one of the worst I have ever seen!! Seriously WTF?!
