DNF Round-up
Take my Books! (Still open!)
Smexy’s Top Ten

News from Mandi: Shards of Hope by Nalini Singh is an excellent addition to the series. I loved Aden but I ADORED the heroine. She becomes possessively obsessed with the hero (in a good way) and their partnership is well done. Sheena will be reviewing on release day.

Another great read – Part Time Cowboy by Maisey Yates. My first Maisey Yates read and I adored this book. The hero is grumpy and growly – the heroine knows this and needles him. It’s adorable. And SEXY. And I can’t wait for the hero’s brother’s book. Review coming next week.

I was disappointed in The Courtesan Duchess by Joanna Schupe. I love the premise – hero and heroine forced to marry and then estranged for eight years. But the story did not work for me. Too cold. No emotion. Disliked the hero greatly. No passion or romance. Review coming.

I’m currently about halfway through Cut & Run #9 by Abigail Roux aka the FINAL Ty and Zane book aka MANDI is FREAKING out because these are MY BOYS.

It’s good. So good so far. I’m totally going to cry when I finish. I’ll review early this week. (If you pre-ordered through Riptide, you got the book early)

News From Tori: Binding Ties by Shannon K. Butcher. See my review here. Not my favorite of the series. I think I may be done. An antagonistic romance that went on for too long and a repetitive storyline. Some advancement to the arc and impressive actions as usual kept it from being a total loss but not enough to make me excited for next book.

And Jericho Burned by M.C. Compton. A DNF for me which was disappointed because the premise was fairly interesting. See my review here.

The Slayer by Kele Moon. A fantastic bittersweet endeavour by Moon. Romance and angst go hand in hand when a former gangbanger tries to reform only to find himself in deeper then ever when he his family is threatened. Review to come.

The Virgin Romance Novelist by Meghan Quinn. Older virgins is a tricky trope and unfortunately this one didn’t work for me. See my DNF review here.

Damaged and the Beast by Bijou Hunter.  I liked but had some issues with the characterization of the leads and the storyline itself. I have heard the series gets better so I will definitely be revisiting this series again.

Kulti by Mariana Zapata. A humorous low key sports theme romance contemporary that has a faint NA feel to it despite the age of the leads. A VERY slow burning romance evolves as an antagonistic relationship turns to friendship then love. Charismatic characters, a well developed storyline involving professional soccer, and a couple whose journey to true love will leave you groaning and laughing. My only qualm was the heroine’s inability to stand up for herself and some unresolved plot bunnies. Regardless, Zapata and soccer fans are sure to enjoy.

Eternal Ride by Chelsea Camaron.  A short sweet update on the leads from Merciless Ride.

This weekend I have The Unleashing by Shelly Laurenston (redux)  and Fall With Me by J. Lynn up for my reading pleasure.

News from Sheena:  Christmas in March!  I received a few highly anticipated books this week and I can not wait to dive into them.

Shade by Jamie Begley This was great. I am in a post-reading rapturous state.  I loved traveling back in time and seeing alternate sides of the arguments, bonding and drama that we missed in the other POV’s. Shade’s POV was super engaging and the emotional tail spin in the last 3/4 was clearly Begley in a zone and I was captivated.  I saw a lot of growth from her as a writer with Shade.  There was also more insight into the darker side of the Last Riders that I thought was very timely.  The Last Rider’s typically come off as “bad boy” but not exactly hardcore.  Begley injecting more explicit murder and danger gave Shade just the right amount of darkness to add balance.  Oh and this is no spoiler because it happened back in King, but if Willa does not get rid of those kids!!!!!! I can not take it another moment! They need Treemont Foster Care or a kindly auntie to come to town or  something! *flails*  Have you read this MC series?  Its on the lighter spectrum of MC romance and very cracky!

Kicking off the weekend, I started Bound to Black by F. Sommers…Meeehhh I keep putting it down to start and finish other novels.  This may be more about my flood of new reads than a knock on the novel.  Meh, Gonna dig in and finish it in time for…. J.R Ward’s release, The Shadows next week. (yesssssss).

Confession.  I have been circling around an entry on my Kindle book shelf…. StepLover  by Bella Jewel…. I eye-rolled and snickered and judged the crap out of this latest romance trope but alas when Bella writes- I read-  and that is what I will be doing this weekend. I think my reservations with this wave of step-sibling ardor is that I am basically an all or nothing kinda reader when it comes to fictional taboos. Go hard or leave your pen at home. Balls to the wall.  So I expect authors to go the full monty and creep me the freak out with the familial romance or don’t even bother with the tenuous family ties!  I’ll keep you posted…

Over the weekend, I am also looking forward to reading Nalini Singh’s, Shards of Hope. Nalini is a deity in the paranormal romance genre and her long running Psy-Changling series continues its impressive run.

So many good books! I have just GOT to get reading Ty and Zane. I read the first one and loved it. But you girls keep distracting me with new, new, new.
I’ve been looking forward to the new Kele Moon for ages. The first one in this series (?) was so good.
Part Time Cowboy sounds like my kind of book. See? I’m off chasing shiny objects already.
