Smexy’s Top Ten

News from Mandi: Home by Morning by Kaki Warner was much anticipated by me, but it didn’t live up to all of my expectations. I reviewed it yesterday, you can see the link above. I think some of Kaki’s best work is in her first series – so charming. This one had a lot of other stuff that took away from the romance.

Willow and the Wolf by Elizabeth Kelly is a shifter romance, which was sexy but not necessarily romantic. I didn’t love the heroine – I didn’t find her genuine. The supporting characters romance hooked me more. Review coming next week.

Next up is The Last First Kiss by Lia Riley.

I love summer but it eats up all of my reading time! *cries quietly in the sun*

News from Tori: Wow, I read far more this week than I thought. This is what happens when you get in the zone. The “OMG it’s so hot I must stay inside all day” zone. :P

Nuts by Alice Clayton is the beginning of a new series that lightly spins off her Redhead series. Lots of humor, silliness, and smexy times will have fans cheering for this new couple. Review to post in RT Book Review Magazine.

Burn by Suzanne Wright–Another blogger rec’d this to me and I have to admit I thoroughly enjoyed. Wright creates such fun crazy characters who don’t change their personalities just because they fall in love. This new series looks to be perfect for fans of GA Aiken’s eccentric dragons.

Here be Sexist Vampires by Suzanne Wright–After reading Burned, I decided to try another one of her books. I laughed my butt off in this one. A kick arse vampire, a sexist hero who keeps getting his ego and butt kicked by heroine, and a well plotted storyline that promises some interesting things to come. A fast fun read and as the series is already four in, you won’t have to wait and see what this outrageous couple is up to. My only qualm was Wright’s overuse of giggle. EVERYONE giggles all through the book. Constantly.

Siren’s Call by Jayne Castle–Castle takes us back to Rainshadow Island and introduces us to a couple whose romance require some serious communication while trying to avoid kidnappers, monsters, and a dust bunny donut thief. Fans are sure to love this action packed fun romance suspense.

Truth or Beard by Penny Reid–Penny Reid is a guaranteed laugh with any of her books and this one is no exception. An antagonistic relationship turns hot and spicy when one more Winston Brother falls in love. Now he just needs to convince his heroine he’s the hero for her.  Everyone always says love is hard and Reid more than proves this with a couple who fight, fuss, and love their way to their happily ever after.

Sleigh Ride by Heidi Cullinan A  visit back to Logan Minnesota pairs up a grumbly santa and a prickly elf in Cullinan’s adorable and steamy second installment to her Minnesota Christmas MM series.Review to post in RT Book Review Magazine.

Everything Left Unsaid by Molly O’Keefe–O’Keefe strikes the heart of the matter in this sensual and delish erotic romance that all starts with a simple phone call. Review to post in RT Book Review Magazine.

Dragon Fall by Katie MacAlister–This was a dnf for me. I found the heroine irritating and the never ending use of one liners in the place of dialogue annoying.

King of Hearts by L.H. Cosway–Oh be still my heart. Heh. Cosway gives us Oliver King’s story and what a story it is. A bittersweet romance that is told in two parts-giving us the before and after of a man who falls from grace and the woman who helps him learn to live again. Review to come.

Serving Pleasure by Alisha Rai–Ai yi yi. If you’re not reading Rai then I don’t know what to say. This sexy, steamy, delightfully dirty erotic romance about two people together whose wants and needs and thought to be wrong but when they come together it is oh so right.

Dirty Little Secrets by Erin Ashley Tanner–A dnf for me. A clunky romance with a disagreeable heroine and a skeevy hero. Todl in the heroine’s POV, the book flashes between the past and present and I found the past recollections presented much smoother and believable than the present but not enough to convince me to keep reading.

This weekend I am reading Gena Showalter’s The Hotter You Burn (BECK!!!!) and The One’s We Trust by Kimberly Bell.

I love Suzanne Wright’s vampire series-though thankfully, I think the first book was written before she got a professional editor, so the rampant giggling disappears by the next volume. Cuz, yeah.
