News From Tori: Ola everyone. This week has been a bit helter skelter. Lots going on & not a lot of time to do it. We finally finished up our kitchen. All that’s left is the master bedroom & bathroom then we are finally done with the major fixer uppers for the house.
The Single Moms Undead Club by Molly Harper is a hilarious look at a single mom’s choice to become a vampire to stop her death from a terminal illiness. The PTA, sleepovers, in-laws, & baking takes on whole new meanings as the heroine strives to keep her son’s life as normal as possible. Review to come.
Heart Legacy by Robin D. Owen This sexy fantasy series mixes mystery and romance in an agreeable blend as a young woman who wants to live her own life even if it means giving up everything. Though I liked it, I find each new installment is becoming hit and miss for me and the earlier ones are the best of the series. Review to come.
A Promise Kept by K.S. David was a surprise for me. I didn’t expect to enjoy this one as much as I did. A well plotted mystery mixes well with a best friend romance that addresses class differences and the long held prejudices of a small Kentucky town. Review to come.
Autumn Thorns by Yasmine Galenorn is the first book in her new Urban Fantasy series-Whisper Hollow. A dark spooky series that revolves around a small town filled with spirits, secrets, & a lake to die for. Mystery and romance vie for dominance as Galenorn sets up the world and introduces characters. I did feel this book is essentially a setup for which the series to build upon though it doesn’t take anyway of the enjoyment. Review to come.
I picked up Christis Ridgeway’s Love Her Madly on a whim and was very pleased. This sexy steamy romance adds a twist to the old “bad boy falls for the good girl.” Because this boy isn’t as bad as he thinks & the good girl he’s falling in love with is ready to be very very bad. Though book two in this series, it works well as a standalone. I plan on reading her backlist so I can catch up. :P
Lev by Bella Aurora is a cinderella-esque story about a homeless girl who is rescued off the streets by a rich man whose connections to the mob cause trouble. An enjoyable story, perfect for fans of Jamie Begley, Lani Lynn Vale, or Bella Jewel. Though the story itself is a bit unbelievable at times, the characters & dialogue sucked me in. As cheesy as it sounds, it’s a sweet sexy story with no cheating or violence.
I decided to give Harper Bentley’s The Power’s That Be series another shot even though book one-Gable-was a complete fail for me. So I picked up Loch and after reading realised I should have gone with my gut. It is terrible. We are dropped into a college melodrama that dates back to 6th grade with very little recap. The heroine is insane. A drama queen who I would have run from at first screech. The hero is no better with his passive aggressive actions and never ending smirks.
A MacKenzie Clan Gathering by Jennifer Ashley gives us & Ian MacKenzie a mystery to solve when someone steals some priceless art from the family estate. Sweet, passionate & filled with humor, suspense, & action as Ian searches for the thieves before they strike again. Review to come.
This weekend I have Kristen Callihan’s The Game Plan to read. Come to mama, Drew!!
Mandi is away this weekend but she’ll be back next weekend with her recap and to tell us all about her adventures. :)

I am catching up with the Mackenzies series – I am on the Christmas book now – 5th in the series. I hope this most recent one comes out in print by the time I get to it!

I know her Stolen McKenzie Bride is in paperback but not sure if A MacKenzie Clan Gathering will be.
