News from Mandi: Altered by Marnee Blake didn’t work for me. I liked the premise – heroine wakes up and her entire small town is dead – she meets the hero and a few other survivors – they have developed super powers…but the execution didn’t work. Review coming this week.
Big Rock by Lauren Blakely is a fun read. The hero is verrrrry cocky and sure of himself – but sweet and kind too. It’s funny and erotic. Review coming next week.
Appealed by Emma Chase is a fun read as well. The hero actually reminds me a bit of the hero from Big Rock. (both books are in hero’s point of view). I didn’t like this one quite as much as Sustained, but still a solid contemporary romance. Second chance at love – review coming.
To prepare for the release of King’s Rising by C.S. Pacat, I reread Captive Prince and Prince’s Gambit (formerly Captive Prince Volume 1 & 2). It’s m/m fantasy -and they are a favorite. DYING for the conclusion to Laurent and Damen’s story!! You can read my review of first two book here.
Tori’s News: I only read four books last week but I have been suffering from ‘beginning of a new year book ennui.’ This too shall pass.
The Score by Elle Kennedy. The 3rd book in Kennedy’s Off Campus series brings us a sweet, funny, sexy, and slightly angst-filled opposites attract romance between a self proclaimed campus lothario who falls for the one woman who doesn’t want him. Review.
Counter To My Intelligence by Lani Lynn Vale The 7th book in Vale’s Dixie Wardens MC series finally gives us the story if it’s most elusive and mysterious character-Silas Mackenzie. A fast and furious read with a sexy may december romance and a few suspense plots that resolve and lead us into book 8.
The Dirt on Ninth Grave by Darynda Jones The ninth book in Jones’s bestselling Charley Davidson series picks up where book 8 left off and takes us on a detour as Charley struggles to regain her memory while doing what she does best…get into trouble. Laughter and love is the basis of this book with Jones’s trademark humor and snarky wit in abundance. My only issue was this is basically a bridge book to deliver us to book ten. No arc advancement or new information revealed. Enjoyable overall, I just expected more. Review
Ride Dirty by Chantal Fernando is a small 90 page novella that gives an HEA to another member of the Wind Dragons MC. Having not been impressed with the last full length, I was happy to see Fernando seems to have found her groove again with a sexy alpha hero, an intelligent snarky heroine, some steamy hot love scenes, and a small but suspenseful subplot. Review to come.
For the First Time: Twenty-One Brand New Stories of First Love by Alessandra Torres
This anthology contains 21 short erotic stories by multiple authors ranging from menages, lgbt, first loves, second chances, bdsm, and more. Enjoyable little niblets. And it’s only $.99. Review to come.
I just started Outside The Lines by Lisa Desrochers. A romantic suspense involving the mob, WITSEC, and a grade school teacher. So far enjoying through the hero constant self condemnation is annoying. I also pick up the first three books in Julia Sykes Impossible series after reading her short story in the
