News from Mandi:
Be Not Afraid by Alyssa Cole – a very short, but engaging novella set during the revolutionary war. I enjoyed both the hero and heroine. Review to come soon.
Rolling in the Deep by Rebecca Rogers Maher – two people who work at the equivalent of a Walmart superstore, win the Powerball. (they shared a ticket). They already had shy feelings for each other before they win. It was an okay read – I didn’t love the heroine. Review to come.
Just Give Me a Reason by Rebecca Rogers Maher – the hero is the brother of the Powerball winner. He is in lust with a woman who accidentally gets pregnant and decides to raise the baby on her own. They get stuck at a house together when the power goes out. I liked it – although the baby storyline gets in the way at the end for me. Review to come.
Locked Out by Josephine Myles – a man gets locked out of his hotel room, naked, and another man helps him out – and they ended up having a very naughty one night stand. It takes place over Valentine’s weekend. Very short – dirty. Review coming.
I’m currently reading Strong Signal by Megan Erickson and Santino Hassell and o..m…g the angst. One hero is a recluse, living in the states, is a huge video game streamer – suffers from anxiety. The other hero is in Afghanistan and gets pissed when some gamer dude kills him during a big video game match. He starts to online stalk (in a cute way) the hero in the states. They start privately chatting. There is skype sex. Y’all. It’s soooo hot. I’m at the halfway mark when they are about to meet in person. *BITES LIP FOREVER* I’ll report back.
News From Tori:
Grace by Juliana Stone–The 5th book in this series gives an HFN to the baby sister of the Simon family-Grace. A sexy romance contemporary that addresses some dark subject matter. While I liked it, I had issues with the heroine and her need to fix everything to the point of changing herself in order to make the hero want her.
Pandemonium by Bella Jewel-A spin-off of her Sinners MC series; this second generation book gives us Ava’s story. Not too bad but it was basically a lot of melodrama and little action. Also, a huge part of the plotline was either not explained or I completely missed it.
Dead in the Water by Hailey Edwards–A new Urban Fantasy series with a strong police investigative presence. Strong world building and I enjoyed Edwards chose to use unique lesser known supes rather than go the way of the popular and usual. Fast paced with engaging dialogue and some very interesting characters. I am looking forward to book two. Review to come.
Blood In Her Veins by Faith Hunter–This 19 story anthology is a great addition to any Jane Yellowrock fan’s library. You get POVs and insight from Jane, Beast, Ricky Bo, and Bruiser into known but previously unseen scenes through the entire series. Review to come.
Distraction by Aurora Rose Reynolds –Perfect for fans of alpha deluxe men and insta-love. The romance was well done. I loved the heroine. She was the perfect match for the hero. I also enjoyed the conflict. It was suitably dark and wrapped up the in going storyline perfectly. My only issue was I didn’t think the romance and the conflict meshed well together. It read like two separate stories in one book.
Delicate Ink by Carrie Anne Ryan–A sweet sexy romance that hits most of the right spots for me. A tattoo artist with commitment issues falls for a woman with some dark secrets. Enjoyable overall though I did feel the story had a few too many subplots vying for attention. Mild BDSM only adds to the spice of this story.
Right To My Wrong Lani Lynn Vale– The 8th book in Vale’s Dixie Wardens series was a disappointment for me. The romance and storyline was all over the place with very little depth and direction. The romance felt forced and the various plotlines under-developed.
Beyond Ruin by Kit Rocha-YUM YUM YUM. This post-apocalyptic erotic series takes some shocking turns with this installment. Review to come.
Dirty by Kylie Scott is definitely that-dirty. lol It’s also a fun, fast-paced, and sexy. Hero and heroine have fantastic chemistry together and Scott writes a believable romance while world building for more books in the series. Fans of her Stage Dive series, especially Mal, will enjoy this spin-off. Review to come.
I have no idea what Im reading this weekend. lol
