News from Mandi: I gave up on The Player by Kresley Cole. I had so much fun reading the first two, but this one just didn’t do anything for me. I didn’t get the insta-lust from the hero. The dynamics between them didn’t spark anything. It was just meh so I put it aside.
I also dnf’d Clouded Hell by JR Gray. It’s not a bad book or anything but it’s super BDSM-y and it just wasn’t for me.
Everything else I read this week I reviewed this week. I’m so boring!
News From Tori: Paper Princess by Erin Watt. If dramalicious over the top YA is your crack then look no further. Watt takes the basic premise of Cinderella and slaps it around it to give readers a modern version that snatches you up and takes you on a wild, outrageous ride. Beware though, this devious writing duo leaves readers with a fist shaking cliffhanger.
Bright Blaze of Magic by Jennifer Estep. The last book in her BLack BLade series wraps up the arc and leaves readers secure in the heroine’s future. As references are made to Estep’s Elemental series, we may not have seen the last of Lila Merriweather. Review to come.
The Trouble With Temptation by Shiloh Walker. The second book in her McKay romance suspense series give us Hannah’s and Brandon’s story. Hot and dangerous, this story hit all my buttons. Review to come from Kini.
Eidolon by Grace Draven. The second book in Draven’s Wraith KIng series picks up right where Radiance (Book one) leaves off and takes you on an action packed, danger infused adventure of a lifetime highlighted by an epic passion infused romance. If you aren’t reading this series then I am sad for you. Very, very sad.
Cream of the Crop by Alice Clayton. The second book in her Hudson Valley series gives us a larger than life city loving heroine and the grumpy, cheese making, small town hero whom she wants to get to know better. Between romp in the barn, a clingy ex, and a herd of insecure cows, you will laugh yourself silly at this hilarious romantic comedy. Review to appear in July issue of RT magazine.
This weekend I’m reading Christina Henry’s Red Queen and Jodi Thomas’s Lone Heart Pass.
News from Kini: What I read this week
Chase Me- Laura Florand– There are so many great things about this book: fast talking characters, a hero that isn’t wanted, yet doesn’t give up, sizzling sex, knife throwing. It is second in a series, but stand alone very well.
Manwhore by Katy Evans– I saw someone raving about the most recent in this series so I wanted to start from the beginning. I got to 63% and couldn’t take it any longer and had to DNF. The slut shaming of the heroes previous flames was too much for me.
Me Before You by JoJo Moyes– I had to wait almost two months for this to come available at the library, that is patience. Super cute, yet very sad book. I really enjoyed it and I am looking forward to seeing the movie in a few months.
Never Sweeter by Charlotte Stein– The things that Charlotte Stein does with words, gives me all the feels. All of them. This is NA where the hero was the heroine’s tormentor/bully in high school and they end up in college together. It is so good. And he’s packing a “pringles can” in his pants.
Up next- Ain’t She Sweet by Marie Force, new to me author with review to come. I am looking forward to Bounty by Kristen Ashley and Sheena rec’ed After the Fall by Marquita Valentine so I am going to try to read that.

Totally agree about The Player by Kresley Cole. They definitely didn’t hVe the same chemistry as the first two couples. There was a pretty awesome twist at the end, but, other than that, the romance was dissapointing.
Mandi says
Let’s hope the next one is more fun.
(I might skim the end to find the twist!)

I definitely can’t wait to read Eidolon. I’m trying to be good and finish up my stack of library books before I dive in, but I’m not sure if I have the patience.
Mandi says
You have discipline! ;)
