Smexy’s Top Ten
News from Tori: The Girl From Summer Hill by Jude Deveraux is a delightfully humorous madcap remix of Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice. Review to come.
Love, Alabama by Susan Sands brings us a deep fried southern confection of love, lies, and second chances when a former pageant queen finds love with an uptight New Yorker. Review to come.
Family Tree: A Novel by Susan Wiggs is a bittersweet story of love, loss, and second chances when a young woman awakens from a year long coma to discover that life has gone on without her. Review to come.
Sidebarred by Emma Chase so much fun. I laughed and teared up a little as Chase revisits the cast from Sustained and shows us what they have been up to and where their lives end up. It is the cherry on top of the best sundae in the world.
I thoroughly enjoyed Alyssa Day’s Dead Eye-the first installment in her spin off of her Warriors of Poseidon series. Strong world building, plenty of humor, and a hint of romance entertains when a shapeshifter comes home to settle his uncle’s estate and finds himself part owner of a pawn shop and embroiled in a magical mystery.
Voodoo Killings by Kristi Charish is a new urban fantasy set in Seattle. Voodoo is the name of name of the game as a young practitioner and her ghostly sidekick tries to find a serial killer and keep a zombie safe in a city that seems to want her dead. Review to come.
This weekend I’m reading Divine Descendant by Jenna Black.
News from Kini:
Sidebarred by Emma Chase– This novella closed out the Legal Briefs series. The focus on Jake and Chelsea and their family. Although you get updates from the rest of the crew. It was a beautiful ending that made me cry. Jake is my favorite hero in this series.
Bounty by Kristen Ashley– I am at 53% on this. I need a break. Sometimes KA is too much for me. It takes so long for things to happen, I get bored. Deke seems decent and on the lower scale of KA alpha-holey.
Calling It by Jen Doyle– Debut by this author. I really enjoyed this. Review to come soon.
No Obligation Required by Kelly Jamieson– I listened to this on audio. The hero doesn’t believe he is worthy of love. That is a trope I enjoy. One of the characters lost a loved one in the most tragic and depressing way that had it been revealed earlier, I might have DNF’d it. It was just a lot of realism in my romance, I need to be better prepared.
