News from Tori: Thursday was my bday and I spent it reading, shopping, and running around getting free stuff because that’s how I roll. :P Stay by Sarina Bowen and Elle Kennedy (Book 2 in the WAGS series) is an adorably sexy and funny second chance romance. Review to come. Sight Unseen is a compilation of 5 anonymous novellas by well-known authors. Enjoyable though some weren’t as romantically developed as I would have hoped. I was also hard-pressed to match the authors to the stories. Review to come. I’ve been following Erin Watt’s Tarnished Crown on Wattpad and LOVING though we get only get one chapter weekly (till August). Fans of this series will enjoy finally getting the whole story behind the rise and fall of Gideon and Samantha’s relationship from their point of views. This takes place after book three- Twisted Palace. Will they get back together? I hope so. I finally finished The Darkest Promise by Gena Showalter. I have loved the LOTU series since their introduction in Showalter’s Atlantic series and I was happy to see Camero’s story finally come up. Unfortunately, I feel the world is becoming far more complicated than it needs to be and I found myself irritated for a majority of the book. Review to come.
This weekend I’m reading The Cartographer by Tamsen Parker (Reyes + Allie) and Until It Fades by K.A. Tucker.
News from Kini:
Dear Aaron by Mariana Zapata– 40% epistolary, all slow burn. The hero talked way more than some of her previous heroes, but with the nature of the book, it would be hard for him not to. Some questionable descriptions of the heroine as a Filipina.
The Red by Tiffany Reisz– Described as her most erotic book to date and that is very true. The writing is top notch, the sex made me super squirmy and pushed every one of my boundaries. If you enjoyed Originial Sinners or are into dark eroitca, this will be for you. This releases in July.
I listened to Built by Jay Crownover– This was a quick listen. I’ve read some of her books before and enjoyed them. There were many descriptions of the heroine as cold and/or frigid and that is something that I really dislike.
I am about 70% on Lost without You by Molly O’Keefe (Tori’s review posts Monday) and I am really into it. I believe it is a cliffhanger book so hopefully, it doesn’t take too long for the next one. After that, I am going to read the new one from Ainslie Paton, Hoodwinked Hearts, release date June 19.
