Welcome to another week of Kini’s Friday Kisses. This week was filled with half completed reads.
I started Binding Law by Micah Persell recently. The main set up is that a woman hires a gigolo and then they end up in a fake relationship. These are all things that I love. But I made it to the 50% mark and it was starting to feel a bit repetitive with little forward movement of the relationship, except for sex. This one seems to be more sex focused than the previous book. And while that is ok, I was wanting more relationship development. I am not DNFing it, so much as I am putting it to the side for now.
I am 25% on Making Up by Lucy Parker. I adored the previous two books in this series and so far I am really enjoying this.
Last weekend I spent some time in the car and started listening to Bad Bachelor by Stefanie London. I love the trope of the “bad” guy who isn’t actually bad. I hope to finish it up this weekend.
I also listened to about half of Power Play by Maria Luis and it isn’t great. It’s a hockey romance that one of my co-workers picked to listen to and then talk about on my podcast. He did not like the book. But it was fun to talk about it with him. I am wrangling him to read a beer/brewery related romance next, so if you have any recs- feel free to comment or find me on the Twitter.
I’ll be back next week with more Friday Kisses and hopefully I’ll have finished some books.

Beer & Brewery? How about a couple of Sarina Bowen’s True North books? BITTERSWEET focuses primarily on making cider; one of the subplots of SPEAKEASY is about trying to brew a really good non-alcoholic beer.
Kini says
DiscoDollyDeb- you read Speakeasy? What did you think?
I did think of Bittersweet but couldn’t recall the name at the time. I am terrible with book titles.

I liked it—but I was really expecting an f/f romance because May was in a lesbian relationship (although unhappily) in a prior book, plus she has a long unrequited crush on her (straight) best friend. But I liked the way Bowen handled May’s bisexuality in a forthright manner—yes, she likes men and women—and after a while her orientation wasn’t really a factor.

Victoria Dahl has a brewery series (Donovan Brothers) featuring 3 books with a sister and her two brothers. They are all good but my favorite was Real Men Will (book #3).
Kini says
I thought of this series and will probably recommend it. Dahl writes super steamy so I will have to give a disclaimer.

Meg Benjamin has a brewery related series called Brewing Love. The books are Love on Tap and Saison for Love. I’m also in the middle of Thirsty by Mia Hopkins which features an ex-con hero who becomes friendly with a former high school teacher who opened his own brewery and teaches the hero (who has basically only ever drunk Bud or Miller) how to drink craft beers. The hero then decides to open a brewery in his barrio neighborhood.

I am not familiar with Meg Benjamin. Runs off to look her up. I have Thirsty, but haven’t had the chance to read it yet.
