It’s a small miracle but I finished reading two books this week. And finished listening to an audio book.
First up I finally read The Kiss Quotient by Helen Hoang and I didn’t love it. I never really connected with either character. There were some eyerolly moments with a late intro of a villain that almost caused me to DNF. But I took a break and was able to finish it. Helyce really enjoyed the book and reviewed it recently.
I finished Bad Bachelor by Stefanie London on Audio and I really enjoyed it. London is a new to me author. The book had great pacing and was a take on man-whoreish bachelor falls for a woman. Each character was pretty good. I was not thrilled with how the conflict came to be and was pretty irritated with the conflict maker. But overall I enjoyed this book and look forward to the next one.

Screwed by Kelly Jamieson– I had exceptionally high hopes for this book as it featured one of my favorite tropes- hero pines for woman who can’t be his because she is already involved. When the story opens up Callie has been divorced for a year and her ex-husbands BFF and business partner, Cash had always had feelings for her. Except we don’t really get enough insight to how those feelings started and how he had to spend several years pining for her. I think I have several notes to myself in the book that say “stupid.”
Basically there wasn’t enough piney angstyness for me to believe in this set up. As with all books by Jamieson this one was pretty sexy. I typically really enjoy Jamieson’s voice, but this one was just off for me. It won’t stop me from reading her future books though.
