What I read this week:
Tsumiko and the Enslaved Fox by Forthright
Amaranthine Saga #1
Fantasy Romance
February 21, 2018 by Twinkle Press
This book was so very interesting, with world-building and characters so unlike any I’ve ever seen before. Of course I added it to my TBR list because Ilona Andrews featured it on a blog post and if Ilona Andrews recommends something you absolutely one-click.
The main protagonists are Tsumiko, who inherits an estate, a fortune, and a person from an aunt she never even knew existed, and Argent, an Amaranthine man who is part of the estate and has been in servitude to the women of Tsumiko’s family for generations. The entire plot of this book focuses around Tsumiko and Argent bonding, falling in love, and looking for a way to break the forcible bond between them and set Argent free. It’s a PNR/Fantasy romance that moves slowly, but captured my attention so fully that I never at anytime wanted to put it down. The world-building is original, the characters vivid and interesting, and the romance between Argent and Tsumiko incredibly romantic. Highly recommend.
Final Grade- A
Diamond Fire by Ilona Andrews
Hidden Legacy #3.5
Urban Fantasy
November 6, 2018 by Avon Impulse
Rogan and Nevada are getting married, but first Catalina must find a stolen tiara and figure out who in Rogan’s family is the thief.
This novella in the Hidden Legacy series is a nice addition to the series and while giving readers glimpses into Rogan and Nevada’s life after the events of book three, its main job was to push Catalina into forefront and let her become the main focus of the series going forward. She is a fascinating character and I am so excited to watch her grow and take control of her powers more fully.
Final Grade-B+
The Long Goodnight by Selene Charles
The Grimm Chronicles #2
Fantasy
October 29, 2018 Self Published
I read the first book in this series several weeks ago and really enjoyed. The world-building, which revolves around already familiar and well-loved fantasy lands like neverland, grimm, and wonderland, was incredibly interesting and the characters, such as Alice, Humpty and Ichabod, etc.., are familiar yet taken to the next level in sexy and interesting. The heroine Elle (think The Little Mermaid) is a detective with the Grimm PD and her partner is Hatter (yes, that hatter). They are tasked with taking down a gang of criminals that has gotten progressively more violent in their crimes over the last several months. Elle is also dealing with the fact that Hatter has had a vision of her deceased lover coming back to life.
Woo… this book is super sexy and the chemistry between Elle and Hatter electric. I loved all the twists and turns and how this author manages to take settings and characters so familiar and make them sexier, wittier, more vibrant and interesting. It took a bit in the first book for my mind to get on board with the transformation some of these characters have taken, but now I am fully invested and more than ready for more.
Final Grade- B
My TBR:
Beautiful Sinner by Sophie Jordan– I was supposed to read this one last week, but got distracted by a bunch of fantasy books.
A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J Maas- Mandi, Tori, and Helyce all loved this series and that’s good enough for me.
The Hero and the Hacktivist by Pippa Grant– This author’s books are always super funny, super sexy, and super romantic. I’ll be reading this on release day. Releases November 9th on Amazon and in Kindle Unlimited.

AACCKK! After being bitten by the fantasy bug with the series by Maas, I want to glom all the fantasy books. Definitely adding the above to my TBR!
