Angela: I have so many books on my TBR this month I don’t even have room to list them all. LOL.
Lord of the Last Heartbeat by May Peterson 9/2– I saw someone tweet about this book months ago and knew I had to read it. A m/m fantasy romance put out by Carina Press, who quite frankly has published some of my favorite reads in the last few years. Here’s a line from the blurb:
In a world teeming with mages, ghosts and dark secrets, love blooms between the unlikely pair. But if they are to be strong enough to overcome the evil that draws ever nearer, Mio and Rhodry must first accept a happiness neither ever expected to find.
Bringing Down the Duke by Evie Dunmore 9/3- This is Evie Dunmore’s debut and I’m already hearing good things. The series is titled A League of Extraordinary Women and that’s exactly the way to get me to add to my TBR.
Lady Rogue by Jenn Bennett 9/3– Doesn’t this sound amazing?
The Last Magician meets A Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue in this thrilling tale filled with magic and set in the mysterious Carpathian Mountains where a girl must hunt down Vlad the Impaler’s cursed ring in order to save her father.
The Ten Thousand Doors of January by Alix E. Harrow 9/10– I’m going to be honest and just admit that I saw the cover and fell in love. Then I read the blurb…, but it was the cover that had me hooked at first glance.
In the early 1900s, a young woman embarks on a fantastical journey of self-discovery after finding a mysterious book in this captivating and lyrical debut.
Taming Demons for Beginners by Annette Marie 9/13– This is the first book in a Guild Codex spin-off series and I am very excited for it. I discovered this author through the KU program and haven’t been disappointed yet.
The Orchid Throne by Jeffe Kennedy 9/24– The first book in the Forgotten Empire series features a queen willing to go to extreme measures to keep her people free from an evil emperor, a former crown prince with an army built to defeat that emperor, and a ring that brings them together. Excited!
Archangel’s War by Nalini Singh 9/24– I kind of feel like everyone has this book on their TBR list. I’ve heard it’s intense and emotional and even thought I’ve had it on my kindle for awhile I’ve been holding it close and waiting until I’m in the mood for an intense, emotional read. I have mild anxiety about reading this one. LOL
Sheena: Fall is my most, bestest, favorite time of year! Thank goodness for September and all of it’s soon-to-be-autumness! This month, I’ve accepted defeat and dropped any delusions of grandeur associated with the notion that I’d be getting a handle on my TBR pile (read: mountain)- so I selected three books that come hell or high water, I am finishing in September:
Dalliances & Devotion (The Truitts Book 2) by Felicia Grossman Out Now: Never read this author before, but the blurb was interesting and the first few lines made me laugh- hard.
Logan (7 Brides for 7 Blackthornes) by Samantha Chase 9/5/2019: I was sold at Samantha Chase. Chase writes some of the most purely romantic, seductive and sweet romance I’ve had the pleasure of reading. The chemistry and sexual tension she weaves through her novels is pure art and I am all the way here for it in this compilation-like series. From what I gathered, 7 authors each pitched in a novel featuring a brother and I don’t care that I’m crashing the party at book 6- Chase wrote it so I’m here bishes! Gimmie!
Ice Planet Honeymoon: Rashosh & Liz 9/1/19: Ahhhhh. I love this sci-fi romance series. I’ve read all of the Ice Planet series and spin off novels so this novella revisiting one of the founding couples is an absolute treat. I love Dixon and will read her all days, in all ways. Forever. And. Ever. And in the afterlife- I’ve got dibs on haunting her readers and reading in whatever way ghosts manage!
Kini: I’m back with a list of books I am really excited about this month. As usual, I’ve already read at least one of them. I am also going to try to read at least one book that came out within the last few months. For funsies, I looked back at my August TBR list and I read 2 of the 5. (Insert sad face)
Beard with Me by Penny Reid 9/16 I’ve been waiting for Scarlet and Billy’s story since the beginning. I’m a cheater and I’ve already read this. It is incredibly sad. I will have a review as it gets closer to release date.
White Whiskey Bargain by Jodie Slaughter 9/23– I saw this on Twitter and nearly broke my one-click finger liking it and emailing Jodie about it. ”I wrote a romance novel starring Black and Latinx ppl in Appalachian Kentucky with hella moonshine and a marriage of convenience…” Jodie will be stopping by Smexy later this month with a couple of posts about the book. So stayed tuned :)
Puppy Christmas by Lucy GIlmore 9/24– This book sounds kind of cutesy with the premise of the heroine operating a school to train service dogs. The hero is a single dad. I love the single parent trope. Lucy Gilmore is a pen name of Tamara Morgan.
No Judgements by Meg Cabot 9/24– Early on when I started reading heavily again, I read a couple of the Heather Wells Mysteries. They were fun and silly with some mystery thrown in. But I haven’t read Cabot in a while. I was excited when the ARC for this showed up on my doorstep. The heroine of this story is working to save cats and dogs after a storm.
The Write Escape by Charish Reid 9/30– The blurb mentions a heroine whose life has fallen apart. I love messy characters who find their love. I am extra encouraged about this because I saw Jazmen @blklitreviews tweet about it today and how good it was.
Goalie Interference by Avon Gale and Piper Vaughn 9/30– I’ve kind of taken a break from hockey romance due to what felt like over saturation and a glaring lack of diversity. So I am excited to see a book that looks to be a bit more diverse than I normally see in this sub-genre.
What books are y’all excited about this month? Any of the ones we’ve listed above? Something else?

Jackie Ashenden’s THE DEBT hit my kindle on Sunday and I’m already done (having Labor Day off helped). It’s the start of a four-book series for Harlequin’s Dare line (with each book written by a different writer). Clare Connelly’s latest, CROSS MY HART, also from Dare, also the start of a new series from her, also downloaded Sunday and I just started it: One-night stands turns out to be an important business connection the next day. Oh noes!
September 9th brings a new book from Molly O’Keefe, NEED YOU NOW. Also on the 9th, Kati Wilde releases the latest in her Deadlands fantasy series, THE MIDNIGHT BRIDE. And speaking of Katie Wilde, on September 30–finally, finally!—LOSING IT ALL, the latest in her Hellfire Riders MC series, is released. I’ve been waiting for this couple’s story forever (or at least since it was set up so well in the previous book, BREAKING IT ALL). Since Jackie Ashenden finally published the rest of her Texas Bounty romances this summer, Wilde’s LOSING IT ALL is the book I’ve been waiting for the longest time. Let the countdown begin!

Is it the 16th yet?! I’m so excited for Beard with Me. I have my eyes on Scarlet and Billy since book 1 and I’m hoping their story lives up the expectations. Thanks for cheating, Kini, what you told me so far gives me good vibes.

Giselle, You know how to find me once you read it :)
