Good-bye 2020 and so glad you’re here, 2021. Please let this year be better. I can say without any doubt, there are a ton of great books I’m looking forward to reading.
The Crown of Gilded Bones by Jennifer L. Armentrout
First up, I JUST finished Blood and Ash and immediately one clicked A Kingdom of Flesh and Fire. If you haven’t read these yet, do it now. This urban fantasy series is everything. And, you need to start at the beginning and be ready for The Crown of Gilded Bones in April. I can barely contain my excitement. April can’t get here fast enough!!
Never His Girl by Rachel Jonas & Nikki Thorne
This one technically released on 12/26, but I’m not sure I’ll read it by the end of 2020, so I’m including. This is book two of the Kings of Cypress Prep series. You need to read, The Golden Boys (check my review!) first. It ended on a HUGE cliffy. I’m in the Facebook group for this series and theories abound on what’s really happening. It’s terrific.
The Devil Wears Black by L.J. Shen
Shen is a go to for the dark, sexy, anti-hero who I love to hate until about 70% in when he reveals some complex issue or deep reason for his asshole behavior, and then I love him. Unfortunately, her last book, The Villain, wasn’t my favorite. But, I am holding out hope that this standalone will be a slam dunk for me.
The Finish Line by Kate Stewart
OMG…there’s a third book in what was previously called the Ravenhood Duet. These two books were at the top of my best of list for 2020 and I CAN NOT WAIT for this third book. Hot, twisted, intriguing and kind of wrong…this series pushes all of my buttons. I will be pulling an all nighter with much wine when this comes out in January.
Vi Keeland’s books make me happy. She writes the best heroes and this one looks like a Cinderella type theme. After 2020, I need this fairytale. Yes, please.
Hellbent Series by Penelope Douglas
This is a spin off of her popular Fall Away series. I will absolutely read it. Douglas says, “The books will tell the love stories of Hawke, Dylan, Quinn, Kade, Hunter, A.J., and James. There will be a total of six books.” Good enough for me. I am a huge fan of the Fall Away series and all things Douglas.
After Twilight, I zipped through many vampire, fae, immortal hot men, angels, and werewolves series. Showalter was a constant favorite. I’m looking forward to trying out her new series. I’m a little nostalgic feeling for paranormal romance. I need to find my way back. “…dark, sexy new series—Rise of the Warlords—with a fan-favorite character from her beloved Lords of the Underworld series, Taliyah Skyhawk. The ice maiden faces off with her greatest enemy, a villain brutal beyond imagining.” I’m in.
The Song Book of Benny Lament by Amy Harmon
I LOVED Where the Lost Wander, The Law of Moses and Making Faces. This new one looks like another winner. This time we have a piano man and a vocal powerhouse, set in the 60’s. They put everything on the line to be together. Sign me up. Harmon does a great job of capturing history and I’m excited to see the 60’s through her eyes.
And putting a wish out there into the book universe for 2021:
Please Kresley Cole, write the next book in the Arcana Chronicles series. I’m still dying to know what happens to Aric, Evie and Jack. Put me out of my misery. Please and thank you.

That Amy Harmon book looks intriguing!
I’m looking forward to the next Murderbot book (Martha Wells) and also to Katherine Addison’s next book which is set in the world of the Goblin Emperor.
