Pretty Boy D by Rachel Jonas and Nikki Thorne
New Adult Contemporary Romance

Review by Jen

Pretty Boy D is the next smexy installment in the Kings of Cypress Point series by Rachel Jonas and Nikki Thorne. We’re working our way through the hot triplet brothers and Dane Golden is the star of this book.

Dane, Pretty Boy D, is a beautiful, social media star/athlete who is rich, snarky, and to quote Bella from Twilight “unconditionally and irrevocably in love” with his best friend, Joss.

Joss is a virgin. She’s got the whole purity ring from her dad (ewww…..) to prove it. She’s also into Dane. In the previous books, we learn that while her dad puts her on a short leash, he was outed publicly for cheating on her mom, multiple times. Its always the most vocal ones that have the most to hide, amiright?

In an effort to escape all of the gossip and reset their lives, her dad decides to move his family out of the country. Joss wants nothing to do with that plan, grows a backbone and tells her father, no. He’s angry, she doesn’t budge and he basically cuts her off financially for her decision. Lucky for Joss, Dane has a sweet large place to live and she can move in with him.

Now we have two best friends living together and the sexual tension commences. Joss is disenfranchised with her square proper life and makes a “Never Have I Ever” checklist of things she wants to experience. The list includes things like getting a tattoo and…having sex.

Friends to lovers is one my favorite tropes. And while this isn’t the “we only have one bed” story, they are living in one place together and I loved the sexy tension. The backstory of how Dane and Joss became best friends seven years ago is sweet. Loved the dirty talk, Joss’s fear of losing their friendship, the chemistry was hot, some drama but not over the top ridiculousness. All and all, a great next book in this series.
