This book wasn’t on my radar at all. Until, someone told me the author was a guy and then I was super intrigued. Plus there’s all kinds of delicious trope candy; big age gap, rockstar romance, enemies to lovers, forbidden love in many ways.
Jackson Havoc is a huge star. His band is crazy popular. All the guys are friends. When Jackson’s best friend and bandmate dies, Jackson disappears. It’s a big mastery, where did Jackson go?! Fast forward ten years. Melody is a very young journalist looking for her first writing job. Melody’s mom is a famous groupie who lived with one of Jackson’s bandmates. In fact, he was one of the few guys that Melody actually liked and he taught Melody all about music. Many of her mom’s boyfriends and hook-ups weren’t so great. And her mom is selfish and a liar. Not a good situation for poor Melody!
Melody interviews at a well known music magazine and ends up promising she can deliver a story on the enigmatic Jackson Havoc. She manages through her mom’s old letters and correspondence to track him down. Jackson is hiding out on an island under a fake name. She’s desperate and not entirely honest with him. Especially on who her mom is and how she’s connected to Jackson. They get off to a very rocky start. Understandably, Jackson is not fond of journalists and he’s also a drunk and seriously into drugs. He’s gorgeous, but messy and broken.
This book pushed all my buttons. I’m such a sucker for rockstars. Especially the complicated ones with loads of baggage. Cole wrote a steamy, emotional, terrific romance. I loved this book!! On the male author, I kept looking for things that were very classically “male” and never found any. It was just solid all around, no weird man-isms. I know…I know…that’s awful, but we’ve all read those posts where male writers just get some things wrong. He did not.
This book had emotion, spice, twists, turns, dare I even say…action packed? And the ending…WTF?! There was an HEA and a major bomb dropped about another character. I need to know what happened! Looking forward to reading more by Jagger Cole.

BROKEN LINES sounds a bit like MESSY by Katie Porter: age-gap romance between aging rocker and the daughter of one of his former band mates. Have you read it?

I haven’t read that one- but if it’s like Broken Lines, I’m all in!
