The Stolen Heir by Holly Black, 1/3: The Folk of the Air trilogy is one of my favorite YA fantasy series. I thought that was it, and then JUST saw that Holly Black is releasing another book in that same world, and “filled with intrigue, betrayal, and dangerous desires.” Yes!!!
All The Dangerous Things by Stacy Willingham, 1/10: I listened to this and LOVED it. I’ve been on a bit of a thriller kick and this book completely hit the spot. A son stolen out of his crib in the middle of the night. A desperate mother looking for clues from her past in the search to find out what happened. So many twists and turns in this psychological thriller!
Secretly Yours by Tessa Bailey, 2/7: A Tessa Bailey book? Of course, I’m in. AND, it’s set in Napa! I also love Napa and all things wine. It’s a steamy new rom-com about a starchy professor and the bubbly neighbor he clashes with at every turn.
Radiant Sin by Katee Robert, 2/7: It’s the next book in the Dark Olympus series. If you haven’t started this series, I highly recommend it. Each is a clever, steamy retelling from Greek mythology. This one promises to be an especially hot modern romance starring Apollo and Cassandra.
End of Story by Kylie Scott, 2/14: Great author, opposites attract, and this- the MMC discovers a divorce certificate hidden in a wall and dated ten years in the future—with his and the FMC names on it. It couldn’t possibly be real…could it?
We Hide From the Light by Lucy Score, 2/21: Last year, I read my first Lucy Score book, book one in this series, and really enjoyed it. I’m back for more! The second book stars the “nice” twin, smiley local cop, Nash Morgan. He was dreamy in book one. Should be good!
Yours Truly by Abby Jimenez, 4/11: I adored this book!!! Best cinnamon roll ever. Two ER docs- enemies to BFFs to lovers. Forced proximity, fake dating. Interesting side characters, and now I’m going back to read the book before it.
From the Grave by Kresley Cole, 4/18: FINALLY!! I’ve been waiting for the conclusion of the Arcana Chronicle series for years, LITERALLY IT HAS BEEN YEARS. If you haven’t started this series yet, do it. You won’t have to suffer through the major cliffhanger the rest of us did. The concept is that our world experiences an apocalypse every hundred (?) years and young men and women take on powers of the Tarot cards. There’s action, a love triangle, intrigue and a super intriguing world. I LOVE it.
Happy Place by Emily Henry, 4/25: I’m a big Emily Henry fan. I’ll read whatever she puts out there. Looks fun and quirky! A couple who broke up months ago pretend to still be together for their annual weeklong vacation with their best friends. Some forced proximity and second chance romance vibes.
The Ferryman by Justin Cronin, 5/2: A reviewer friend recommended this and I tired desperately to get an ARC. Nope. It didn’t happen. So, I wait. It’s a riveting standalone novel about a group of survivors on a hidden island utopia—where the truth isn’t what it seems. Stephen King (not my reviewer friend) says, “Next to impossible to put down . . . exciting, mysterious, and totally satisfying.”
Meet Me at The Lake by Carley Fortune, 5/2: Fortune’s first book, Every Summer After, was one of my top books of 2022. I loved the nostalgia, the young love. This book is giving me that feeling, too.The FMC spends just twenty-four hours in her early twenties with an aggravatingly attractive, idealistic artist, a chance encounter that spiraled into a daylong adventure in the city. The timing was wrong, but their connection was undeniable: they shared every secret, every dream, and made a pact to meet one year later. I’m swooning…
Fourth Wing by Rebecca Yarros, 5/2: This new fantasy book about a war college for dragon riders looks fantastic. Friends, enemies, lovers. Everyone at Basgiath War College has an agenda—because once you enter, there are only two ways out: graduate or die.(cue the dark dangerous music)
Hello Stranger by Katherine Center, 7/11: Center’s last book, The Bodyguard, was a delightful surprise. This rom com has a unique premise! The FMC is an artist who has what is supposed to be a minor surgery. But, while recovering, she realizes that she can’t see faces. Animal faces, yes. Human faces, nope.
I’m sure there’s more to come in 2023. I just started the audiobook Age of Vice by Deepti Kapoor and because I totally fangirled over Yours Truly by Abby Jimenez, I started reading Part of Your World. So far so good. Happy January!

Although there is no one book I’m eagerly awaiting in 2023 that matches my anticipation in 2022 for Rachel Reid’s THE LONG GAME, there are some books I’m really looking forward to in 2023, including: Genevieve Turner’s COWBOY, PROMISE ME ALWAYS (January 19), Kati Wilde’s SHERIFF’S BAD BEAR (January 31), Serena Bell’s WILDER AT LAST (February 7), Zoe York’s REBEL AT HEART (April 25), and Julie Kriss’s REVERB (May 1).
