A River of Golden Bones by A.K. MulfordPublished on December 5, 2023 by Harper VoyagerFantasy RomanceReviewed by Kate I was attracted to A River of Golden Bones because of the fairy tale elements to the story - the sleeping curse, a princess named Briar, you know, the usual. Once I got into it though, I realized that there was so much more to love about the book. It’s one of those books that just sucks you in and makes you want to keep reading into the night. Please note, for Continue Reading

Review: The Witches of Bone Hill by Ava Morgyn
The Witches of Bone Hill by Ava MorgynFantasy September 26, 2023- St. Martin's GriffinARC Review by Angela This is the third book I've read this year with the word witches in the title. The first was a lighter paranormal romance, the second a little darker- more magical realism than fantasy, and lastly, The Witches of Bone Hill, a much darker fantasy, almost straddling the horror line. Cordelia Bone's life is spinning out of control. Her cheating husband left her nothing but debt, Continue Reading
Review: All the Dead Shall Weep by Charlaine Harris
All The Dead Shall Weep by Charlaine HarrisGunnie Rose #5Fantasy/Alternate HistorySeptember 5, 2023- Gallery/Saga Press Review by Angela I've enjoyed the Gunnie Rose series so far. The first three books focus on Lizbeth Rose, the fourth on her sister Felicia, and now we finally see them on the page together, with their POVs featured in alternating chapters. This book starts slowly, with Felicia and Paul, Eli's brother, arriving in Texoma for a visit. There is tension between Continue Reading
Audio Review: Empire of the Vampire By Jay Kristoff
Empire of the Vampire by Jay KristoffDark FantasyMacmillan AudioSeptember14, 2021 Review by Jen I started a new gig and we’re moving, too! Things have been busy and I haven’t read as much as I would normally like. But, this book was absolutely addicting and I just had to share. A little history, my book pipeline went from Harry Potter to Twilight to all things Anne Rice, then Black Dagger Brotherhood…which I eventually just had to give up on. THERE’S JUST SO DAMN MANY IN THAT Continue Reading
Angela’s Minis- Thornhedge by T. Kingfisher and Looking Glass Sound by Catriona Ward
Thornhedge by T. KingfisherFairytale Retelling/FantasyAugust 15, 2023- Tor BooksARC T. Kingfisher is an author I've grown to love, whether it's romantic fantasy, horror, or in this case a twisted fairytale retelling. This is a reimagined sleeping beauty, where the sleeping princess is an evil changeling and the fairy godmother is actually the heroine of the story. Yes, there is even a kind-hearted knight bent on rescue, but he's not what you've come to expect either. Thornhedge is Continue Reading

Cypress Ashes by Kai ButlerSan Amaro Investigations #7LGBTQ+ PNR/Fantasy RomanceJune 19, 2023- Self-PublishedKindle Unlimited This was one of my most anticipated reads of the year, the finale for a truly fabulous fantasy series. Lucky for me several of her books have appeared on the Amazon First Reads list and I’ve gobbled them up ahead of release date. Audio Review: Fourth Wing by Rebecca Yarros
Fourth Wing by Rebecca YarrosEpic FantasyMay 2, 2023, Entangled Review by Jen If you’re on TikTok, you CAN NOT escape the hype about Fourth Wing by Rebecca Yarros. I saw the posts. I loved the posts. I bought the audio book. I’m going to start this review by focusing on the end first. Wow oh wow…that end, that cliff hanger! Imagine if you will a dogfight scene from one of the Top Gun movies. But instead of planes, we have dragons, gryphons and one other mystery beast Continue Reading
