Hi Friends! It’s Friday! 2020 has been a rough year and it doesn’t seem to be getting better. It feels hard to talk about books when the world is so unsettled. But also I know that books bring comfort to many, including myself. I want to quickly highlight two books this week. The Boyfriend Project by Farrah Rochon- The cover is adorable and the premise is great, Samiah finds out through social media that the man she is dating is also dating two other women. Samiah immediately dumps this man Continue Reading
Kini’s Friday Kisses- Mini reviews for books by Nalini Singh, Kate Canterbary, Cara Bastone, Martha Waters, Molly O’Keefe, and Abby Jimenez
We'll call this one a mixed bag round up of books I've read relatively recently and one I read months ago. Much like my reading these days, these reviews are all over the place. I think it is indicative of the times. One thing that has really helped me though is giving myself the flexibility to read any books I want and not be pressured to read only ARCs. My library upped our available check outs through Hoopla so I have been trying to take advantage of that. Cherish Hard and Rebel Hard Continue Reading
Monday Mini’s- Mini reviews for books by Christina Lauren and Katie Porter
The Honey Don’t List by Christina Lauren- I have read many of Lauren’s books. They are usually very enjoyable to me. Although I really disliked the last one, Twice in a Blue Moon for lots of reasons. I still wanted to read this book. I didn’t love it and I didn’t hate it. It felt similar in a few ways to Dating You Hating You, work enemies of some sort that fall in love. (CW: workplace sexism, emotional abuse by boss, disabled heroine) There was nothing spectacular about this book for me. Continue Reading
Kini’s Friday Kisses- Mini reviews for Valentine’s Day Novellas by Jodie Slaughter, Erin McLellan, and Jackie Lau
I had every intention of writing this last week in time for Valentine’s Day, but I didn’t. But even though that day has passed, I still want to tell you about the Valentine’s Day novellas I read. Apparently I only read in themes/sets of three now. Next week I will have a round-up of a trio of Cowboy books :) Anyway, back to this week. First Up- Just One More by Jodie Slaughter. I REALLY wanted to love this story. I really enjoyed White Whiskey Bargain last year. The cover of this is Continue Reading
Kini’s Monday Minis- Reviews for books by Rachel Reid, Lucy Parker, and Adriana Anders
Tough Guy by Rachel Reid- It has been a while since I read a hockey romance and this one did not disappoint. Hockey playing hero Ryan suffers from anxiety and it was handled so well by the author. His love interest is Fabian and Fabian seems to present as gender non-conforming. All in all the story was sweet and sexy and was a great reintroduction to hockey romance for me. This is part of a series but can be read as a stand alone. Reid hints at another couple that has my interest Continue Reading
Mini Reviews: The Molly O’Keefe/Fader Edition
Hi friends! I has been a long time since I wrote any sort of review. But July was a busy month for me. Almost everyone in my family has a July birthday. My son moved out of his apartment and back home! And I had to get ready for RWA. (Which was an amazing experience from which I am still recovering) Amidst all that I managed to read a few books. Two I want to highlight here are The McAvoy Sisters Book of Secrets by Molly Fader and One Last Chance by Molly O’Keefe. Molly Fader is a pen name of Continue Reading
