Guest Post: Queer Romance Recs for your Pride Month Reading by Layla Reyne

June 13, 2019 by Kini 1 Comment

Author Layla Reyne is back on Smexy for some recs for Pride month! Out this week, PRINCE OF KILLERS is book one of my new male/male romantic suspense trilogy, FOG CITY. Usually, when my writing brain is in romantic suspense mode, I’m reading a different genre. While working on Fog City, I’ve been binge-reading contemporary romance. These are just a few of my recent favorites that I’d recommend for your Pride Month reading. Top Shelf – Allison Temple – A cover with character, and a Continue Reading

Thanks for having me on Smexy Books to celebrate the release of Thrown to the Wolves, third in my Big Bad Wolf series. In a world where only a few know werewolves exist, human agent Cooper Dayton gets partnered with Oliver Park, a werewolf himself, to solve beastly mysteries. Of course, they accidentally fall in love along the way. Cooper and Park have come a long way from their Continue Reading

Smex Scene Sunday: Sexcerpt from Noble Hops by Layla Reyne

February 10, 2019 by Kini 1 Comment

Thanks for having me on the Smexy blog to celebrate the upcoming release of NOBLE HOPS, the final book of the Trouble Brewing series. I’m bringing a sexy excerpt with me today that teases the hot distillery hook-up (over a barrel!) between federal prosecutor and brewer Nic Price and FBI agent Cam Byrne. Enjoy! EXCERPT: They wove through the first room of big silver tanks and into the second cooler one, to the back where he and Eddie had made extra room between the stout tanks. “You Continue Reading

Helyce’s Final Thoughts on Thursday

December 27, 2018 by Helyce 5 Comments

Hello Friends, It is with much sadness that I write this post.  My time at Smexy Books has come to an end. I will never forget that day that Mandi emailed me and asked if I might be interested in reviewing with her and Tori.  At the time, I was a stay-at-home-mom. I would read while my kids were at soccer practice. When I found the Goodreads community my reading world opened and I found so many other genres I had not explored before.  Talking books was how Mandi and I met and Continue Reading

Review: Desperate Girls by Laura Griffin

August 16, 2018 by Mandi Leave a Comment

I love Laura Griffin's romantic suspense books. Maybe a little light on the romance, but she writes creepy suspense and crime so well. I never get bored with crime scene details or detective work. Her books are fast paced and full of intrigue. In Desperate Girls, we have a high-powered defense attorney, Brynn,  who is looking to get a young adult off of murder charges - a murder she truly believes he did not commit. She has to travel with her co-worker Ross to Dallas, to attend the trial. Continue Reading

Angela’s Monday Morning Reflections- 8/13

August 13, 2018 by Angela 1 Comment

Happy Monday y'all, hope everyone had a wonderful weekend!  What I read this week: To See the Sun by Kelly JensenM/M Sci/Fi RomanceAugust 13, 2018 by Riptide Favorite Quote: "I want to show you everything. One day, I'm going to show you everything." This is probably one of the most low-key science fiction romances I've ever read. I anticipated a whole lot of angsty conflict after reading the first chapter, but.. there really wasn't too much.  The Continue Reading

Mandi’s Monday Musings

July 23, 2018 by Mandi Leave a Comment

Imperial Stout by Layla Reyne (Trouble Brewing #1) Released: July 23, 2018 M/M Suspense Carina Press This is a spin-off series from Reyne's Whiskey series and I saw some reviews that said it's probably best if you read the Whiskey series before reading this. I did not and I was confused at the beginning of the book. There are a lot of characters besides our two leading men, and it was hard to keep track of names and who was bad or good or a double agent etc.. I did settle in after a while Continue Reading

Helyce’s Thursday Thoughts: The Girl in the Moss by Loreth Anne White and In Bed with the Beast by Tara Sivec

June 14, 2018 by Mandi Leave a Comment

The Girl in the Moss by Loreth Anne White (Angie Pallorino #3) Romantic Suspense June 12, 2018 Montlake Romance Favorite quote:  We all tell lies.  We all have secrets.  A secret can own a person.  A secret is powerful. But only to the degree that the truth threatens someone.” I’m not sure what it was about the blurb that captured my attention, but I’m so glad it did. I have not read romantic suspense in a while and I realize now that I’ve missed it. Also, I had no issues reading this Continue Reading

Review: Payback by Kristin Harte

February 7, 2018 by Mandi Leave a Comment

Payback by Kristin Harte (Vigilante Justice #1) Released: January 25, 2018 Romantic Suspense Self Published Reviewed by Mandi I like the premise of this book and it may turn into a fun series, as the hero has a bunch of brothers who all need love. But by the end, I felt like Payback fell a little short of expectations. In Justice, Colorado, the Kennard family are top dog. They own a sawmill and vast lumberyard and employ almost everyone in their small town. There is a sheriff, but Continue Reading
