They're rebels, scoundrels, and blackguards-dark, dashing men on the wrong side of the law. But for the women who love them, a hint of danger only makes the heart beat faster, in the stunning debut historical romance The Highwayman by Kerrigan Byrne. STEALING BEAUTYDorian Blackwell, the Blackheart of Ben More, is a ruthless villain. Kini’s Friday Kisses- Mini reviews for He’s Come Undone Romance anthology, and books by Emily Henry, Tash Skilton, and Kwana Jackson

May 22, 2020 by Kini

I’ve been fortunate to get lost in some really good books lately. He’s Come Undone Romance Anthology by Adriana Herrera, Emma Barry, Olivia Dade, Ruby Lang, and Cat Sebastian. Here’s a little about each of the stories in the order they appear in the book. Appassionata by Emma Barry- This story is about a pianist and a piano tuner. It was so heavy on the piano world that I kept getting hung up on things that I didn’t understand. It was taking me days to get through this story so I decided Continue Reading

Guest Post: Small Town Romance Recommendations by Chelsea M. Cameron

May 21, 2020 by Kini

Chelsea's new book, The Girl Next Door, will be released on May 26. She stopped by to give us some recs for some other small town romances. Thanks Chelsea! I’m from a small town. When I say that, I don’t think a lot of people have a concept of HOW small I mean. I’m talking less than 3,000 people. I went to the same school for kindergarten through eighth grade. Many of the teachers I had are still teaching there, some of them with friends of mine who are now teachers themselves. Our town Continue Reading

Angela’s Minis- Reviews for books by Sajni Patel, K.J. Charles, and Kwana Jackson

The Trouble with Hating You by Sajni PatelContemporary RomanceMay 12, 2020 by ForeverARC I don't normally do this, but I did read Kini's review before I began writing mine. I was curious what her thoughts were and it appears we had a lot of the same issues with this book. She is spot on with her content warnings... mentions of past sexual abuse, rape, and trauma as well as emotional abuse and slut shaming that had me turning Kindle pages angrily. It was a lot, and I wasn't quite expecting Continue Reading

Guest Post: How I Incorporated Supernatural into my Magic in Manhattan series by Allie Therin

May 18, 2020 by Kini

Allie Therin's new book, Starcrossed, it out today. She stopped by to talk about the book. Thanks Allie! When Smexy Books invited me to blog on incorporating the supernatural into my Magic in Manhattan series, the first thing I thought of was my recent privilege of speaking to author Dana Staves’s class about my (still very new!) experiences with publishing. They asked great questions, including whether I thought world-building/fantasy elements have their own development arc the way the Continue Reading

Top Ten May 15, 2020

May 15, 2020 by Kini

We are somehow at the middle of the month. Maryland started the week with winter and is ending it with summer. At least I will be able to spend some time on the deck with Kitty Scarlett this weekend. Here are some things that brought me joy on the internet this week. 10. I created what is possibly my best IG story to date. After author Janet Eckford replied to a picture I posted of Kitty Scarlett in her new cat tent. I made this gem. You have to click through because IG is weird about Continue Reading

Review: The Trouble with Hating You by Sajni Patel

May 15, 2020 by Kini

Before I even talk about the story, I want to talk about the content warnings. The author’s note at the beginning of the book mentions “non-graphic references to sexual assault, death, and trauma.” And while I applaud the author and publisher for putting that in there, I don’t think it is enough. There is also emotional abuse and extreme slut shaming. There are at least two scenes that were incredibly upsetting and I think that other readers may have a hard time as well. In my opinion the scenes Continue Reading

Q & A with Kilby Blades

May 14, 2020 by Kini

Kilby Blades newest release, Spooning Leads to Forking, is out now. We chatted with Kilby recently to find out more about her and her books. Hi Kilby, thank you for taking some time to talk with the SmexyReaders today. KB: Thank you for having me!   First, can you tell us a little bit about yourself? KB: I really like the outdoors.
