Review: Beard Necessities by Penny Reid
I finally got the chance to read Beard Necessities by Penny Reid. It is the second half of Billy and Scarlet/Claire’s story. I was underwhelmed. Maybe I set my expectations too high after absolutely loving the sad story that was Beard With Me. In Beard Necessities, Billy and Scarlet are all grown up and are “forced” into reconnecting. The whole Winston family is in Italy. And for the first half of the book I couldn’t understand why they were there. Then I remembered Duane was there to learn Continue Reading
Kini’s Friday Kisses with mini reviews for books by J. Daniels, Vanessa North, Lucy Gilmore and Christina Lauren.
I’m back! I read some more books and now I am going to tell you about them. Down Too Deep by J. Daniels- This one has things I love, single parents, one of whom is a widower. But this book did not work well for me. The heroine, Jenna, meets the hero when his daughter is roaming around the restaurant he owns and she offers to babysit the child. They don’t know each other but sort of know of each other through other people. It was weird. CW: Widower spouse who's wife died by Continue Reading

Someone’s going to have to let down their guard… Football star Cole Riley is notorious for doing as he pleases—on the field and off. He parties hard and fights harder, but if he doesn’t clean up his act, his career is over—so Cole reluctantly agrees to work with image makeover consultant Savannah Brooks. He’s not used to being told what to do, especially by some (admittedly hot) Southern belle. As for Savannah, she’s not convinced she can transform this cocky (and aggressively sexy) force of Continue Reading

Early in her life, Josephine Malone learned the hard way that there was only one person she could love and trust: her grandmother, Lydia Malone. Out of necessity, unconsciously and very successfully, Josephine donned a disguise to keep all others at bay. She led a globetrotting lifestyle on the fringes of the fashion and music elite, but she kept herself distant. While Josephine was trotting the globe, retired boxer Jake Spear was living in the same small town as Lydia. There was nothing Continue Reading

Review: Beard with Me by Penny Reid
This book starts with an author's note that to paraphrase states this book is tragic, can stand alone and has lots of triggers. Let’s get the content warnings out of the way first- domestic abuse, child abuse, and animal abuse. Although most of this happens off page and we just read about the after effects. If you want specifics, please feel free to reach out to me directly. I have read every single one of the Winston Brothers books. I have been invested in Scarlet/Claire and Billy Continue Reading

Rock Chick by Kristen Ashley - Every book in the Rock Chick series is currently on sale for $1.99. This was the first series I read by this author and what made me fall in love with her. I’ll post links for the rest of the series after the photo and blurb. Indy Savage, cop's daughter, rock chick and used bookstore owner, has been in love with Lee Nightingale, once bad boy, now the man behind Nightingale Investigations, since she was five years old. No matter what ingenious schemes Indy Continue Reading
